Just my personal view but I am a bit surprised at people being upset if 15 SC won't apply to LTSC or rollover SC's as being somehow a disincentive?! It's 15 SC. It's like a discount Y MEL-BNE flight. It's not a *lot* - if one needs this as the difference to get to LTS or LTG (yes I am amused at the LTP comments) well.. honestly it's a drop in the bucket for any of the LT status levels imo. Yes, every tiny little bit helps of course but really.

As for rollover SC's - why would they count? As above they're not earned in the air I am not sure why QF would count these as anything but bonus SC's to apply to one's current membership year. They might be generous sure and allow it, but I would doubt it myself.

Anyway re the "Vaccine Database" idea above. AJ said this morning, and take with as much cynical grains of salt as one wishes, that the uploaded certificate would be verified and then deleted.

I guess they are not ready to integrate with the IATA app yet.

Other SC earned on the ground can roll over, so that doesn't seem like a reason why these won't.

I'll either wait until my membership year rolls over to claim the SC otherwise the 1k points will be taken.

15 SC that gets you closer to LTP is a no brainer! 😂
Now if only you got 15SC each time you get a booster for the rest of your life... ;)

I stand corrected. You know I thought somehow BP etc SC's didn't roll over. Well by that logic these should roll over then I guess.

I just treat things like this as bonuses that don't really add to anything. Guess more will be seen tomorrow when they properly launch this promotion and the T&C are revealed.

Because 15 SCs that don't count towards lifetimes status, in this time of very limited flying, are effectively worth 0 SCs, unless by some miracle you happen to be 15 SCs or less from reaching the next higher tier with better benefits.

If they counted towards lifetime status then at least it would be worth a discount Y-MEL-BNE flight. Not a lot, but something. As it stands now, it's basically worth Buckley's. Sneaky Qantas.

I was keen to upload my vaccination credentials to get those 15 SCs closer to LTG, but don't really see the point now.

edit: typos.

Well we don't yet know if they will apply to LTSC or not so guess just have to wait to find out.

Given I was wrong above I hesitate to say this but I suspect if the SC rollover they probably would add to LTSC :) but who knows. Well I presume it would be cleared up tomorrow what QF intend for these.

Hope y'all get what you want :)

Unfortunately, we do know the answer. Kangol posted above that the T&Cs state they do not count towards LTSCs:

Status Credits will not contribute towards any Platinum or Platinum One Bonus Rewards, Loyalty Bonuses, Lifetime status and any Qantas Status Accelerator.

As found here: https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/member-offers/been-vaccinated-be-rewarded.html

For something so significant to the future of Qantas, and the airline business, this does seem like a token amount.

Not expecting anything extravagant, but equally for the need to share personal vaccination/health records, when they just give away 500+ points for free on occasions, and you can get $25 off a hotel booking on your birthday i.e. both for nothing at all, the incentives seem underdone.

Fair point.. but what would you expect? say the same as a Loyalty Bonus? (8k points/50 SC ) ? That might make some sense.

I think really this is the (small) carrot approach rather than the stick possibly imposed by places for travel (ie: no vax, no entry to X - at least initially.

Remember AJ said last year (feels like a lifetime ago) that QF would require vax for international travel. They have started with staff.. Now AJ may have discovered this is not a popular message to send to the masses, even if a number of QF destinations may mandate vax as entry requirement - at the very least for quarantine free travel - and it is possible AU may have a requirement too for entry in 2029 when we open borders again to entry. So rather than focus on that side of the ledger a bit of a carrot approach makes some sort of sense.

Is it enough? I guess the question is does the average punter value these things differently to niche groups like us who spend far more time, effort and interest on these things. To very infrequent flyers, for example, 1k points may well seem like a lot. I am not sure it is fair to judge the offer by "our" standards as opposed to the vast majority of casual members.

So, the real answer may be in coming months as to what sort of take up QF gets from this. I bet we'll never really know, but it sure would be interesting :D
