For something so significant to the future of Qantas, and the airline business, this does seem like a token amount.

It isn’t one companies responsibility to make up for the horrendous mess our governments and public servants have landed us in.

I’ve been so disappointed in our businesses lack of response so far, they all should have something available to fully vaccinated people now. At least QF is trying something.

Where are Woolworths and Coles offers? Two companies who have creamed millions out of all of us and rub their hands in glee every panic buying episode.

Where is Virgin/Rex’s offers? Where are all the airports offers? Free parking / discounts could be a good one for them! I would cash in a 50% off airport parking voucher!

Well with such a low starting benchmark, the average consumer can pretty much forget the rest of business doing anything significantly better.

I didn't get vaccinated to get a handout from Albo, AJ or anyone else. I did it for myself and everyone else in my community. Any of these efforts I see as cherries on top.. but that's just me.

Sure the US were giving out beers, pizzas and $1 lottery wins in some places as incentive to get the jab (and IIRC a pub in Melbourne tried to give a pint for a jab but got shut down for some stupid reason) and I understand some people get motivated with incentives above the common good. This is a start by QF.

And do we really want to be sharing our vax info with woolies, Coles, Aldi, maccas, BP etc etc etc to get a token something? I dunno.....

the REAL incentive will be the place we are all hoping like mad to get to - states and borders opening up, ability to travel and of course to go international again. That's worth a whole lot more than bonus SC's or whatever.

others mileage will probably vary :)

Sorry, but they didn't wear masks on the plane ..... FAIL!!!! ;)😂
I'd say that Qantas attempting to suggest that masks will only be seen in "higher risk" settings like health care. Obviously, that won't be the case for initial international travel but one can only hope.

As someone in the unlucky post-June-22 status expiration window, I'll wait until my year ticks over shortly, and then hope that the 15 SCs get me slightly closer to whatever (hopefully lowered) renewal bar there is next year.
15 is more than 0, so I'll take the win!

I have to admit, I’m not overly keen on uploading the vaccination certificate to the Qantas app (or anywhere else for that matter), it has your full name, DOB and Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI) on it, not something I’d really want to be handing over to all and sundry.

I wonder if they'll allow people to upload a screenshot of the google pay/apple wallet version instead. This version only contains a document number.

Privacy (and security) are very legitimate concerns. I appreciate your feelings on this and agree to a certain extent.

I think the reality will be that, specially for covid things, this kind of thing will become more the norm (ie: covid passports) to provide this information - for better or worse - to both places/companies we deal with and potentially foreign government officials (for border entry and other checks).

The unique identifier is the big one. I mean heck most people willingly hand over items to get something - eg Wollies QFF#, anme and DOB for that lnk...

so it's probably going to be something we'll have to give up in some way to achieve things we want unfortunately.

(it would be nice if Medicare or the AIR could provide a verifiable certificate without all the info on it unless absolutely required - a cut down version that would be required, for example, for entry to venues or similar)

T&Cs said PDF only, not screen shots.
Not sure where it said that... I must be blind because all I can see is

"Entrants must quote both their Qantas Frequent Flyer number and State or Territory of residence, and upload their COVID-19 digital certificate successfully (or satisfy any other requirement determined by Qantas for vaccine verification) to complete the form for a valid entry."
The wallet one is a valid digital certificate.

Also on another note, I'm starting to think the $20 Jetstar voucher is actually the best option. The JQ voucher can be used on anything JQ sells and is the same as the ones they issue when your flight is put into credit.

The $20 Qantas voucher is actually just a promo code that takes $20 off a Qantas flight so significantly more restrictive. As others have mentioned the points are trivial (easy to earn 1000 points other ways) and the status credits are useless to many as discussed above.

I'm not sure where I read it this morning, but saw it somewhere on the site. I had originally just added my certificate to my apple wallet, but after reading it I went back and downloaded the Digital Certificate PDF. I guess time will tell what is accepted :)

Edit - not having a good day... information in front of my nose in your screen shot 🤣

I was going to take the status credits, but due to being able to only rollover a certain amount of SC into my next membership year from PCP, and the fact I am almost at 1200SC anyway... the measly 1000 points might make more sense.

Or to a loyalty and data business that happens to own an airline as a side interest… and may use it to flog you health insurance.

The link to flying is marginal at best.

I guess before making assumptions, here is the answer.

It’s not an assumption.

Even if you believe all that is said in your screenshot, QF systems will show you’ve been awarded points/SC/voucher etc for being vaccinated.

Nothing in your screenshot prevents QF loyalty sharing with QF insurance a list of members who benefited from the covid offer.

IHI is useless and QF have the rest of that info anyway so 🤷

What's health insurance got to do with any of it though, it's already sent out to QFF members.
You can't target health insurance to just covid vaccine takers, it's already been targeted prior.

If you're interested Qantas has only recently started using CEM which is an Amadeus product, more info here: https://amadeus.com/documents/en/blog/pdf/2017/08/amadeus-avianca-case-study.pdf

I will be going against the SC trend and opting for the points, I don't need points but will take them if they are on offer. For me 15 SC are of no value to retaining P1, if QF extend the status extension to include July 22 onwards, I will take the one flight. If not I will fall back to WP, I have LTG and to far away from LTP that 15 SC would make any difference. Each to their own I guess.
