Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Good luck Shayne, hope it works out.

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

I do not have a infant travelling with me the agent has tried swapping the flights for the BKK-CAI-CDG but needs a supervisor for some reason. Thank you for finding the flights for me , fingers crossed

probably to authorise the extra legs of the ticket, plus to try and work out the taxes now.

fingers crossed!! (and Egyptair will be good - there was a trip report recently saying it was fine - and the flat beds are comfortable).

Let us know how it goes!

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

im going to the rate desk

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

when they do the taxes if they send to rate desk im gone

nah - you'll be fine hopefully! they shouldn't look at the rest given it is an involuntary change. If they do that would be very bad luck :(

Reading this has been intense and thrilling. Sorry to get such entertainment from your unexpected situation, I do hope it works out Shayne2233.

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Someone mentioned to just turn up at the airport and let TG sort it out, I'm starting to think this might actually work.

This may work; check in as normal, TG can check you in into F class BUT NOT let you sit there SOOOOOOO they get two LUCKY passengers who are flying Y to be op-upped into your checked in F seats, and you get op-downed to Y.

No ticket cancellations, the booking doesn't have to be touched etc and Shayne2233 and family is a bit disappointed but two lucky folks get to fly F in the 77W suites.

Bit of a risk, but it might actually work. Im not in any way/shape or form saying do it.

*Do TG keep a record/notes of contacting you? That might create a problem

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Why would they cancel it? That's terrible.

can anyone please find any availability from bkk to cdg on the 19th for 2 adults and 2 children.

Im not flying with any infant and the aircraft is 777-300

To tell you the truth I would be leaving the itinerary as is. Some may call it a risk but it is highly unlikely they would deny you boarding, just play dumb (which is very reasonable as it is not something very common), they may downgrade one or two of you but at least you would be on the plane.

If I am correct you paid a third party to book these flights for you Shanye? I would be going back to them and getting them to help you out.

I feel terrible for you. But unfortunately for some reason when you first arrived on here and FT I somehow thought something like this might happen (even though this is incredibly out of the ordinary). I love this deal, but I am so clear to people what it is about and I am not one for crazy routings or trying to beat the system. I book what is relatively easy and achievable.

Good luck mate but I wouldn't let them cancel what you already have.

Just another question what have US airways said about the children in premium cabins thing? Did they know about it? And thus if they did they should be rectifying your itinerary with no cost/inconvenience.

Whatever happens here I think you should post this over at FT as well as you will have a lot of people on your side that is for sure.

i dont want to post this on FT i have alot of haters there. I did hire a third party to help me book this but he couldnt do it so i kept calling and trying myself until it was done and it was. My big secret is the one of the fare was a mistake for my wife and child . Instead of the miles being 140k or 150k each i was charged 45k , i thought i could sneak thru with it and i did until TG plane wouldnt allow them to board. So be aware that on the 777-300 Tg doesnt allow any children or infants in F/J.

After speaking to the supervisors and complaining yelling they allowed me to re route without a cancellation fee and with the same mistaken miles taken from the account. Im now going on SYD-BKK-CAI-CDG-ZAG-FRA-ZZY-LAX-NRT-AKL-SYD . The leg they changed for the cairo one mel_traveller saved me with 4 seats in J .The supervisor i spoke to was amazed how the mistake wasnt picked up from the rate desk or the audit team , i think in the end they just realised my position and felt sorry for me and still honored it. To be honest im not happy and i will try to lodge a formal complaint to ACCC or fair trading about TG not notifying me of my children being denied to board. I have been to that office a few times and called me at least 5 times to keep checking my tickets and never mentioned it. And their response was call US airways if you dont then when you hit bkk you WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BOARD THE AIRCRAFT .

So i lost my F seat in the suites i lost my F day spa access and im now heading to egypt where i dont want to be

What do you think good outcome or bad

A good result in the end. Your just transiting Cairo so I wouldn't worry about that. I can't believe they only charged you 45k miles for a J Aus-Europe redemption with 10 segments! Amazing!

But it all still begs the question why it wasn't picked up and you have the right to be angry. The thing is that US Airways is like your 'travel agent' in this case so they are the only one that can do anything, there is no point worrying about TG or the ACCC, but it would be nice to know why they didn't tell you earlier about the children situation. The one avenue you may have with the ACCC is state that it is possible to buy a ticket online for a child in the said class.

As a side note, have you bought travel insurance yet for all those pre booked hotels you have?
