Although I really like the concept of going to AKL for lunch, after some serious thought I have decided I can't justify spending the time and money to travel from Perth.

I'm definitely trying to make this one, so mark me down as attending. Praying for the low end of the scale cost for the meal (apologies for sounding cheap, it is not my intention).

Since I'm going to be away in mid-April anyway, I may just tack AKL on the end of the trip, although creating the routing will be a challenge.

Looking to stay at the Hilton notwithstanding rates; might just chuck up points to stay there.

You're not alone in that. Maybe I'll just have to go with the roughie wines

Good Afternoon.

I have just spoken with the chefs at Euro.

Lunch is confirmed for Saturday 28th April commencing 12.30pm.

There will be TWO options with regard to lunch.

Option 1: 7 Course degustation menu showcasing the very finest NZ cuisine. This option will include non-alcoholic drinks, including tea and coffee. Price for that is $250AUD.

Option 2: As above with the addition of champagne/coughtails on arrival, along with matching wines for all 7 courses. Price for that is $400AUD.

This is not a "cheap lunch", nor is it intended to be. This is an "experience" to enjoy an afternoon with like-minded people, enjoying fine food and fine wine. We will not be enduring the "basic" wines at all.

Simon Gault has agreed to be "hands-on" for the day and will lead the cooking, along with his operations manager, head chef at Euro and the sous chef at Euro. I have also asked that particular staff members are there to look after our group. This team of chefs will be working EXCLUSIVELY for our group during the whole afternoon. Our area will be blocked off to the general public and all guests will have a chance to sit at the "chefs table" and watch some of the dishes being created. I expect we will finish around 5 - 6pm just in time for some post lunch drinks at the Hilton.

I have mentioned the possibility of a couple of options including a "steak" at Jervois. We can do this on either the Friday night or Sunday lunch/dinner.

Also, if enough people are interested, we can visit some wineries on the Sunday during the day and do some tasting.

As I have mentioned before, it is now time to confirm the numbers. I have had several PM's and I would ask that others who have not yet responded to please do so as soon as possible. Please advise if you have any dietary requirements. I'm allergic to nuts so there will be none featuring on the menu. Anything aside from that, please advise. Vegetarians and Vegans will be catered for if required. Please also ensure you let me know if you are travelling alone or with a +1.

Once we have finalised the numbers, I will advise via email of payment procedure.

I would prefer you email me rather than PM as my inbox fills quite quickly. [email protected]

Please also let me know if you require a guest pass for the F Lounge in either SYD or MEL and I will see if I can pull some strings.

Finally, just a reminder if you are staying at the Hilton or Pullman, please let me know. We will be having some drinks on Friday and Saturday night and I'd like it if most people can attend.

We may need to reduce the numbers and if so it will be on this basis. 1st in, top priority if I know you or you are "referred" by another AFF member whom I know. ANY member "referred" by ANY of the Mods.

I'm looking forward to a fantastic weekend and if you know anything about "bossreggie" you will know that you will be in for a treat. This may not be something you do every weekend, but it will be something you will remember for a very long time.

I look forward to seeing you all on the weekend.

This will be an interactive lunch and Simon will be able to answer questions and chat with all members of our group. He will also be attending "drinks" at the Hilton with those of us staying at the hotel.

Just a brief follow up as I have already had several emails regarding the menu.

If you do not eat a particular food, whether it be "red meat", "seafood", "dolphin" etc etc.... Please let me know. You WILL be catered for, and you WILL enjoy 7 courses along with everyone else. The beauty of this lunch is that it will be able to be tailored for EVERYONE who is able to afford it.

I will have a SAMPLE menu hopefully by tomorrow, but please bear in mind it is a sample only. It will just go to provide an example of what to expect.

I will be flying over several times between now and the lunch and I assure you I will make sure we all have a great time.

Email from me as well :)

Sounds like this will be a weekend to remember!

Sadly, I can't do non-alcohol lunch and I can't afford $400 + fares unless my employment situation changes.

Have an awesome time and please please please post real-time updates with pics

To me.... I think you will be SAVING money by coming along!!

Email sent.

I've booked at both Hilton and Pullman. Will cancel whichever one I don't plan on using.

Hey LawLass,

What bout we arrange a dinner on the way back at your Crab Stack restaurant? I missed out on that in the last FLounge run. Maybe other will enjoy doing that as well? Anyboby going to the AKL Lunch up for a LawLass Crab Stack dinner on the way back? There are at least 2 who would like to do that with you.

Maybe we should do an F run on the same day ;)

I’m always down for that.

Thanks for the offer, currently attending a FTer Do in Singapore, once I get back home will check on the available options, $400 for lunch is my preference, but will be interesting to see the menu.

bossreggie, just wondering when we'll find out if we've got a spot at the table.

I'm ready to book airfares, but they're non-refundable ...

I would have been good for all of this from the GS private jet to whatever it takes for the lunch + wine but I'll be in the middle of a two week cruise of the Kimberley coast that weekend. I keep following the thread and look forward immensely to reports of the event.

Although maybe I wouldn't have made the cut as I have never managed to meet any other AFF members, let alone bossreggie's AFF contacts :( - although after bossreggie's horrendous earlier experience with some low-life , I can understand his caution. Every AFF event I've tried to get to has conflicted with alternative travel or something has caused a change of plans.

One day I may enter the inner sanctum :D.

Hi awilcockson.

I have begun emailing members already with confirmation.

My expectation is that we will have numbers finalised within a week.

If you have voted and you intend on joining the group please do not waste time or you may well miss out.

Have received some exciting news and am pleased to confirm that we will now have some prizes to be given away during lunch.

Also from bossreggie, I will be selecting a winner at random and that person will have their lunch, drinks on the drinks night/s, transfers in AKL (to and from airport in 7 Series BMW) plus the winery tour, all paid for by me!!

I will choose the winner at random from the first 20 who have booked and paid for the lunch. This will be for ONE person only. (except transfers)

Please don't worry if you have NOT received an email yet. There are a lot to go through and I have quite a few special dietary requests to arrange. I WILL email everyone even if it is to tell you that we were not able to confirm a place for you for the lunch.
