I'm thinking fly to Syd on whatever, do lunch in the Syd FLounge, catch JQ35 to Mel, take LawLess LawLass and whoever else wants to join us out to her Spicy Crab and Prawn stack restaurant for dinner, O/N in Mel, board the G550 for the morning flight to Akl for a LONG lunch, light dinner and sober up breakfast, back on the G550 to Melb, maybe dinner and another O/N in Mel and back home sometime the next day. Sounds good to me.

BossReggie, I'll match you a 21 year old bottle of Lagavulins with another from me for lunch or whatever. Are you a Red drinker? I assume Yes? If so do you like full bodied Barossa Shiraz? Trust so as I'll pack a few interesting bottles of Red.

All sounds good to me. Subject to the right dates, I'll (+1) make it across. Unless I win Lotto, I'll be on one of the airlines though!

Late March, April (excl Easter) should be ok.

Would love to attend, but I just don't think I can swing it.

I will however be in AKL in March (22 thru 25 inc) for a work do... So if its that week/weekend I can come wave through the window!

Thanks for the kind offer BR.

I am V interested in Option 2 - date dependant, of course.

For those of you interested, a great view of the Gulfstream G550 in their brochure.

Pages 5, 7 and 10 for interior shots; Page 15 for the coughpit shot (which I love ).

Is that bossreggie on P19 ?? (well, it might be you if you are fortunate enough to grab a seat).

For a thread, it's has a fair number of views (~2,550) in the first 24 hours and 124 posts (10 an hour on average). Not bad :D

Glass coughpit. Nice.

We should ask JB747 if he wants to earn a bit of pocket money

Perhaps better put, we should ask jb747 if he wants to come along ...rarely would he be a pax in a corporate jet (certainly not on QF's account ).

Doubt he has flown somthing this small, or is qualified to fly it. He could be handy in an emergency;). Maybe the pilots could leave their door open, or feed through their microphone input/output through a speaker into the main cabin and jb747 can translate for us as to what is being said/done.

I like this thread. I will need to give the options a thought, but am certainly a possibility.

Will catch this thread later, but now it's time for dinner.

If he was flying for SQ more than likely he would have, they train their pilots on Lear 45s and Cessna Mustangs at MCY!

Before we go too far into this thread, some ground rules need to be set. Alsolute clarity, I'm sure you all understand .

It's up to bossreggie to set the date for this flight. The flight should be when he is able to go (and organise), not when any of us want the flight to be, in order to suit us - that's being a little selfish (yet understandable in this case, given the magnitude of the offer and strong desire from a number here).

Hopefully the issues behind his changing flight schedules of the past week will be gone by the end of this week - after all, he missed a trip to AKL and a lunch this week because of them. I don't know whether he wants us all to join him for his birthday, thought he might want a more private affair with +1 .

However, one thing that should be crystal clear to all intended participants - it's cash on the nose, in accordance with his offer, before the event date (before you get a seat on the jet, or at the restaurant). We will not abide any miscreant that wants to take advantage of the enormously generous goodwill/offer that bossreggie has given. He will have the sole decision as to whether you have a seat on/at either.

We wouldn't want anybody to be confused and try to say they weren't told well in advance of the event ;)

Hi all

I've only just come in on this.

I'm certainly very interested. Late March/early April looks pretty good except for Tuesday 27 March as I already have tickets to Frankie Valli who's in Perth that night.

I don't mind what I spend on wine & food (actually, note the order of that, and the more the better ).

Well said LW and absolutely agree.

To further clarify my own position, I'm perfectly happy (and it's totally the right thing to do) to just take whatever date is set by bossreggie, and if I can make it, great, and if I can't then c'est la vie. . As far as the G550 goes, I have stated I'm interested (and I am) but TBH it will necessitate a fair degree of self-persuasion to do it, should the opportunity be there for me. So just interested in the G550 option at this stage. If that option is unavailable to me, or I wimp out on convincing myself to fork out for it, I would still be very interested in attending lunch, dates permitting. :)

Absolutely agree. I took the invitation to have all of the above already stated and accepted.

As my grandmother used to say, "nowt so queer as folk..."
