So what was on the dinner menu tonight? Are you allowed alcoholic beverages?
Just discovered multi-quote
I’ll attach the menu for today and tomorrow and photos of meals I’ve had since that first one I posted. When breakfast is delivered the day’s menu is attached. Yes we can have alcohol. There is a menu on the TV to order booze and snacks. I’ll attach photos of that too as well as the info pages provided by Marriott and another bit about alcohol from the QLD government welcome pack.
2 weeks and bad food. Can you order menulog or Coles? Can you order microwave, blender ect for delivery?
Actually the food has been really nice. Yes there are some things I’m given that I don’t like (the abomination that is watermelon
), red delicious apples, cans of soft drink and most of the juices. But my bestie back home and her 2 young boys love the juice and apples so they are going in my suitcase
yes you can definitely order outside food but I haven’t felt the need because what I get here is more than enough. Regarding appliances they won’t allow anything electrical in over 1000w. It would be nice to have a microwave only to reheat my meals because they really aren’t hot by the time they are delivered. I know they’re doing their best.
Hang in there
@oz_ally And I really hope the 14 days passes quickly for you. I’m really enjoying your posts as they are quite informative about hotel quarantine conditions. I would be interested to hear how you are able pass the time and how you break your day up - or if you just decide to treat it as a wonderful chance for sloth and self care.
Thank you. I’m glad that my posts are interesting to some. I had no idea what would really happen in hotel quarantine either. I only hear the negative stories in the media. Maybe it depends on what hotel you’re staying in, personality (some people can’t hack being cooped up. I’m an introvert so I’m all good
), food being served. I think some people just like to whinge too. I didn’t expect this to happen but it did so I’m just dealing with it and for myself it’s not that bad. Yes I miss my friends, kids (adults), my computer
and my cats
but I’ll see them again.
As for my days I’ve hardly had time to binge watch anything so far. I get messages and my bestie goes to my house twice a day to feed my cats so when my google nest alerts me she’s there we FaceTime and catch up and I can see my cats
and talk to them
Another lady from back home also offered to be my exercise buddy while I’m here
It’s not my favourite thing although I do walk a lot at home because I don’t drive. I said ok I’ll give it a whirl. So today we started and she had me doing 100 squats every hour on the hour from 10am to 3pm.
I can’t believe I did it. She’s really fit so it’s something she is always doing. I bet I sleep well tonight and will be paying for the squats tomorrow. She wants me to do it every day. I might as well
I also have my crossword app on my iPad and my Telstra TV plugged into the motel telly. I’ve got heaps of eBooks that I’ve never read. So yeah Day 3 and so far so good. Just hope it won’t be famous last words
So how was your first night in quarantine - sleeping arrangements, dinner menu & taste, outside sounds? What are you doing about exercise?
First night I was a bit restless. I’d had a stressful time the night before trying to work out that QLD entry permit and worrying if I’d have to quarantine. Then it was a long few hours waiting for my flight in Melbourne airport with no lounge
and only a couple of shops open. My flight left Melbourne at 17:10 and arrived in Brisbane at 19:04. With all the border stuff and being escorted on the bus here I think it was around 9 by the time we arrived then dinner came at nearly 10:30. So it was really late by the time I fell asleep with so much on my mind and having to let people know what was happening. I really didn’t sleep very well and kept waking up so got up early anyway. But last night was much better.
I have a King room - obviously to myself because I travelled alone. I tried to get a direct weblink but couldn’t seem to. Just go to
www.marriott.com.au and go to rooms. Mine is the
City view Guest room, 1 King, Brisbane City view
Can’t hear anything outside at all - windows must be sound proof. It’s pretty quiet inside (corridor). I do hear the dinner trolley coming and yesterday I did hear someone’s toddler crying a lot. I’ve had kids so I can only imagine what it was like for the parent(s) and the child but you lose a bit of sympathy after a while
There were no little kids among my detainees so hopefully they arrived before me so will go home soon. I don’t recall hearing any squawking today though so they may have left.
