Brisbane hotel quarantine (live)

Hey how’s it going?
Nice to hear from you
Yeah pretty good this morning thank you 😊
I refuse to watch Covid media beyond the first set of numbers/restrictions/instructions for day announced in MELB (obv my state). …..then I cast mind back to all those times I said ‘I wish I had time to ….’ And do.
…I know you’re in quarantine but reading a book, long bath, talking to friends on phone, non-Covid TV, wasting time buying activewear online…reading AFF ….all possible😂😂
PS how’s the coffee?
stay well
Haven’t even bothered to watch regular TV. I’ve got Netflix, Binge, Amazon Prime and Stan to keep me entertained. Only signed up to Stan since I’ve been away as I was recommended a few shows on there from friends. Normally I have “other ways” to get anything I want to watch that isn’t on my other streams 🤫😂 but it’s not so easy to do that on my iPad on motel internet 😏 But TBH I’ve been so busy with my hourly squats (10am to 3pm) and that hour ticks over faster than I imagined. Plus yes I have been browsing this forum, keeping up with friends and family on Facebook, FaceTime, phone calls, texts and messenger that the day just flies by. I have also been checking out some online shopping too. 😏🛍🤑💸 I’ve only ordered one barista coffee so far from the In house menu. It was pretty good. I’m not a big instant fan so never use the hotel room supplies but I do like Moccona Hazelnut flavoured instant and I always take my own supply when travelling and still have some to keep me going.
What in the World is that Cow Water nonsense? It looks disgusting! Almost like an after thought

Besides that the food offering look quite decent under the circumstances. ✅

Great to see you're in a good frame of mind. Keep up the good work 🍾🥂
Yes skim milk is not my favourite. I do get lite milk at home but there’s nothing like full cream and I may as well have it while I’m here 😜

Just getting some washing done in the bathroom sink. Too bloody expensive to get it done by the hotel. I only have a few bits anyway as I washed all my clothes the day before I left Darwin. My hotel room had a washer dryer. Have a great day to all. I’ll wait until after tea to post today’s meal info. I’m looking forward to tonight’s meal - Mongolian Beef 😋🤤

Great now I know you have Netflix - if you feel like you are travelling to Paris you must (unless you have already) watch funny series ‘Call my Agent’ about a group of agents who manage French actors (who play themselves in real life and fall over themselves to get a part in this comedy ). it Is vicariously beautiful French frothy fun.
If you want something real life L’Agence is a Parisian family all in real estate biz who seek/sell properties for the seriously cashed up French. Fantastic slice of Paris again
hey.. I’m from Melb .. lots of lockdown experience!!
cheers

I’d also add Emily In Paris to this list. It’s silly froth, but quite light and fun for passing the time imagining you are overseas.

It is indeed refreshing to see someone being so positive about being in quarantine. Well done and I must admit that food wouldn't suit me but good on you for being so optimistic

Thank you they sound great. I’m currently watching a French series called Black Spot and a Finnish one called Bordertown (Netflix). Another French series I love is Spiral on SBS.

Spiral is soooooo good.
I’d (almost) put myself in quarantine to watch all the series again
also The Bureau

In fact maybe I’ll start a thread ‘ what are you watching in lockdown’ anything to get away from Covid

🥰 We were able to let them know if we had any specific dietary requirements at “checkin” or even to just mention anything you don’t like etc. And with not being given a choice of what is served I know that could be frustrating for some if they get presented with their least favourite foods. There’s always food delivery services as an option but the cost of the food here is factored into the full price of the stay even if you don’t eat it. I’m just glad that I like 95% of what I’m given 😋 I’m also glad I traveled on my own and not with my vegan daughter or my bestie. Daughter would be grumpy no matter what and with my bestie it’s more of a case of what does she eat rather than what she doesn’t. I love them both but it’s always a nightmare finding somewhere that suits them when we go anywhere (food wise). 😵‍💫 Much prefer it when I travel on my own 🤫🙄😂 I would definitely not be so calm if I was sharing this experience even if they are a loved one. 😵🤣

Since you have Stan, I always recommend anyone to watch Billions!
Yes I have watched that! I’m pretty sure I’ve seen all seasons so far.

I just finished Season 5. With SBS I download what I want to watch with Allavsoft so I can watch without ads as SBS won’t allow watching with an adblocker 😩 Unlike Ch9 and Ch7 even though they tell you to turn it off (I don’t) and the programs still play.
IIRC you get a free allowance from Qld Health, I got 5 items a day. In two weeks I got a whole suitcase full laundered. A trip to the door to put it out, and another to collect!

cheers skip
Well I wasn’t aware of that. Just checked the paperwork and I read it wrong when I scanned through it the other day! And there I was trying to dry my jimjams with the hairdryer this morning after washing them in the bathroom sink 🙄😂

Another nice day with yummy food (mostly). Chucked out the watermelon from this morning's fruit salad and replaced it with strawberries and yesterday's banana. For lunch well you don't win friends with salad but this one was delicious apart from the smoked salmon. I don't recall ever having it before and I found it to be overly salty. However, the veg, rice and quinoa were very nice. Tonight's soup was yum and so was the Mongolian beef. Made myself another faux mimosa 🥂😏 Haven't eaten dessert yet because I'm too full. Hope everyone has had a great day. 😸😁

I think you must be a very positive person in " real life " because I don't think I could do this as well as you ! At home I have the same cereal every morning with fresh blueberries and low fat milk, and a cappuccino !! And I think Dan would need to do a big delivery for me to cope with Quarantine !! 😁

I just FaceTimed with my 10 month old granddaughter. Not the same as in person, but she did recognise me, smiled and me and kept grabbing for the phone and I felt a bit better about it.
Not super cheap, but Facebook makes a great screen that's brilliant for Facebook-timing or Whatsapping between grandkids and grandparents rather than fiddling with phones or computers - 2 for $260
Auto-tracking camera and when they get older it's got a story book function as well.

(Anyhow. Return to the regular daily programming)

IRL I have a lot of routines and for breakfast every morning I mostly have yoghurt and fruit with a coffee or tea. In winter though I change to rolled oats. I pretty much haven’t changed this in years. Also living on ones own can make you pretty slack when it comes to meals so quite often it’s just cheese on ryvitas or almond butter on toast 🙄😂 I’ve nobody else to cook for or answer to any more so it’s great. When travelling on my own I’ll sometimes keep up with my food choices with the occasional change of food scenery (Maccas - don’t judge me haha). At home of course I deffo don’t have these 3 completely abundant 3 meals a day being delivered. When travelling with my kids when they were grumpy teens (they can still be grumpy 20yos) when something we planned went awry I’d just say to look at that it as part of the adventure. They would mock me behind my back like teens do. But being OCD and going through CBT a while back I did learn a few things to cope when my routines are thrown out of whack. But at home I can relax and just be myself and stick to what I know and then get annoyed when someone interrupts my daily plans 😏😂

So can pick out what you like and toss the rest. 🙂
Yep. Because of the huge lunch and tea servings here I do eat some of it. I think I said in a earlier post that I am not a fan of wasting food and if I was home I’d be freezing any appropriate leftovers and stowing them away for another mealtime. “Freezer Surprise” meals are so handy! 😏😂

Day 7 Hotel Quarantine. Still doing fine and not bored at all. One week down and one to go. I arrived here in time for a late tea last Monday night so it will be interesting to check the day's menu tomorrow morning to see if tomorrow night's tea is beef curry and rice. That will probably mean the rest of the week the meals will be the same each day as this first week. It won't be the same not having that daily surprise 😁😏😂

I hope everyone is doing OK especially those in NSW, VIC and ACT. 😘

Today's menu and meal photos. Only one bit of watermelon in the fruit salad which was a bit meagre on the whole but after tossing the offending fruit I chucked in some mandarine and banana I had left from other days. Two apples for lunch 😁 They were either to make up for the stingy fruit salad or I got someone else's 🤔😏😳😂 It's really hard getting decent photos especially at night due to the subdued lighting or I just can't use my phone camera settings properly 😏 but the dinner was tasty. The photos don't always make the food look so great and it would be hard to present it MasterChef style in those containers but as long as it tastes good I'm not complaining 😋🤤

This is hilarious to me @oz_ally. I love watermelon and absolutely cannot abide bananas! I’m not at all a picky eater, but bananas are the most disgusting things. Even the smell of them makes me gag!

I feel exactly the same way about watermelon. I don’t consider myself a picky eater but have a few things I just can’t abide by too. Can’t stand the taste or smell of watermelon 🤢 and all those annoying seeds! 😂 I also can’t stand tofu which makes it difficult when travelling with my daughter and we can only go to eateries with vegan options. I just let her choose the eatery for the sake of peace and just hope there is something without tofu in it. Some places are more versatile than others. Having hypothyroidism I am supposed to avoid soy products anyway but that just annoys grumblebum 😏 She’s almost 25 but things are still all about her of course 🤐🙄

I got my daily menu and I was surprised to find that it is different to last Monday’s. I’ll keep you all in suspense and post it along with my meals once I get my tea 😜 It’s almost 11 o’clock so gotta go stretch for my hourly squats 🥳 Had yesterday off from them. Have a great day everyone. 😘🥰
