Brisbane Lounge Changes

I wish the lounge in MEL or SYD was done up as I visit those far more often than BNE, but this will certainly make the lounge visits in BNE whilst I have WP status (or when I do a status run via BNE) that little bit more special.

I'll be staying there the night before my European odyssey so I don't have to get up quite as early on the GC!
Please let us know what you think. From making bookings it appears to only offer Queen and singles in the rooms. For 2 larger people I want a king bed room, regardless of price or loyalty

While proof is of course in the actual eating and visiting, everything so far looks good. The thought of empanadas and quesadilla for a snack or even a meal is pretty tempting.

Offtopic – my booking isn't till June, but I do indeed have a queen bed only. Will try remember to post in IHG forum after or during my stay.

From the preview the other night, the empanadas weren't bad at all. They were vegetarian so might be a bit underwhelming for some, but I like the capsicum and white bean combo. Consider dipping sauces if you are a big flavour person.

The quesadillas were very nice. Of course, toasty flatbread / tortilla and cheese is already a good start in my books. :) I did end up eating 2 or 3 of those on the opening night.

Just curious but do they ever invite kiwi's from across the ditch to these events???

Not unless it's Kiwi media, but even then, they'd not invite NZ media to the opening of a domestic lounge. An international lounge, more likely but also need to be worthwhile to Qantas (eg a lounge in a port where there are a lot of trans-Tas flights, and a substantial-enough lounge to make Kiwi flyers think of booking with QF instead of NZ).

If Neil Perry is behind these Mexican dishes then I'm guessing 90% of them will contain the Devils herb, aka coriander!

I don't believe many of the dishes on the night had coriander in it, and any that did have it, I believe it was similar to a garnish so easily picked off.

Doesn't phase me in the slightest, because not only do I not mind coriander, but I like it. It's come as a shock to me that coriander is (or has come to be) so polarising, right up there with brussel sprouts and durian.

You would have to pay your own way, tickets aren't included ;)

I was thinking more from an NZ QF flyer passenger point of view. Don't mind paying for tickets.

Ah well will shelve that idea.

Hopefully they get onto the Auckland Int Lounge sooner rather than later.

 Enjoyed a coriander mojito in Bangkok a few weeks ago - beautiful!

I love mojito's but .... coriander?

Well we know it's on the cards and that it'll be a single-class lounge a la BNE, SIN, HKG and LHR, now it's just a matter of when it happens (personally I think the old AirNZ lounge space would be a good fit for a QF lounge).

Not laughing, just a little smile. Ive got it booked for mid April, I didn't think it was opening till very early April

Originally it was slated for early March and I had a booking for awhile then they nuked it and said April 10 or 14th or something.

I started at the Four Points instead.. quite nice for the price tbh

and I said my personal goodbye to the old lounge by walking out and happy to do so as it was wall to wall yesterday and just coughtastic

AUSBT now has the story about the Premium Entry being open. A couple of comments about needing two security lanes.
https://www.ausbt.com.au/qantas-opens-premium-lounge-entry-at-brisbane-airport
Considering QANTAS Club members can use the entry I think that should've been obvious to QANTAS. They should have one security line for WP/OWE/Business and another for SG/OWS/QANTAS Club

With just the one line for the premium entrance, priority security at the old entrance may be a lot quicker.

Does this mean by virtue of being the only ones left not able to use the premium entry that PS / OWR's get their own premium service now? ie the premium service desk in the terminal now.
Perhaps once the new entry settles in the premium service desk and business checkin will be enhanced shortly and they will have to use the regular service desk.

Obviously other higher elite pax can still use it (assuming it remains) but why would they.
