Brisbane Lounge Changes

Might swing me back to Valet parking .... hopefully, it's also getting some improvments. The temporary set-up has been an absolute shocker.

Perhaps they are gauging the use of the facility before investing a second security line? It certainly looks like they'd just about have the space for a second scanner if they wanted to install one. I'd imagine those new machines are pretty expensive too!

I've never used Valet, but was always interested in doing so one day in the future. I feel, when things have settled down I may finally do so for a day trip or overnight stay, just to get the full experience. Only 2.5 weeks to go for me to see the new setup!

there on friday - so will be interested to see how it's working

I like the valet parking at BNE but they store your car (or used to) out on a disused ward or outdoor parking area so you are open to the elements in BNE summer weather. Not happy about this. The Valet at the parking station is cheaper and undercover storage. Pity.

I remember hearing about that. Considering the airport now has a very large outdoor parking area I would hope at the very least Qantas uses a covered area of that. I doubt they'd want to pay for hail damage.

The new DOM J lounge in Brisbane is awesome, 2 thumbs up to Qantas for this. The fresh baked nacho's I had yesterday were great.

Does this mean by virtue of being the only ones left not able to use the premium entry that PS / OWR's get their own premium service now? ie the premium service desk in the terminal now.

There is no other Premium Service queue in the terminal where it used to be. The existing counters are predominantly used for (non-elite) international through check pax and those needing special assistance but can still be used for people only flying domestically.

PS/OWR are still eligible to use the new Premium checkin area but need to use the old security lanes unless they're eligible for lounge access,

This confuses me.

If i vaguely recall there was a premium line and a service line and a staff member would ensure people went to the right queue.
So the area on the right side that was previously manned by a staff member to ensure those using it were status or J pax is gone now you are saying?

Are you saying that PS/OWR would use the new premium entry to checkin and then have to go back into the terminal to go through security?? Or is there an extra exit for them to go back into the terminal after security?

Haven't seen the changes, but presume ozbeachbabe is suggesting the service desks that were split into premium/standard are purely standard service desks now.

They could use the new premium entry, as it is located right next to/in the same building/terminal as existing security (right next to it I'd imagine). Probably an extra 10 steps to old security over new security, but they would need to go to old security as new security goes straight into the lounge, and if they did not have access rights, that'd be silly.

Someone who has been there will need to confirm the layout and how non lounge pax go through.

I thought priority / premium checkin is meant to be an alliance benefit for OW Ruby and above.

Im not ruby now but when i get bumped down ill care about this.

They promised and they delivered... yum yum yum

Happy to report devils herb features only mildly in the salad. Judging by pax feedbacks (I was sitting close to The Cantina) the Mexican theme is a hit!

Currently sitting in the new Qantas J lounge in Brisbane and all I can say is WOW!!! What a brilliant space. So warm, inviting, fresh, large and spacious. Waiting for the lunch service to start to try and food but this is by far the best domestic lounge I have ever been in world wide. Just love it.

Well done Qantas - I'll work that bit harder to make sure I maintain my WP status

so new BNE J beats (newish) PER J then?

I'll give the PER one a review in 10 days so I can compare against the BNE one when next I fly ex-BNE.

From all the positive reviews here from people whose input I trust, I'll have to start buying more Epiqure wines again (just to get the bonus points to use for flight upgrades)....

Sitting in the new J lounge in Bne now and impressions are good. Security screening was similar to DXB in that everything goes in seperate buckets throught the xray over a conveyor system which saw me wait about 3 mins on the other side of the detectors waiting for my stuff (even though it was just me) might want to crank it up a bit during busy periods.
The lounge itself it nice (but narrow at one end) and the food options are good with lots of wait staff bring drinks to you (hope that lasts). Similar sort of look to PER, very airy and well lit. Could easily spend some time here in comfort.

ps. Had Nacho's for lunch (sans corriander) which was ok, but a step up from the old lounge

Looks really nice. As an SG scrub it will be good to at least reduce the overcrowding in the domestic Qantas club. Has anyone noticed the QC is no longer like a tin of sardines ?

I'll report back on how the lounge handles the early morning crowds, and breakfast options, tomorrow morning.

I love the new entry. Photos of the screening area are not permitted. No change to the QP breakfast options.ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1489697820.027636.jpgImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1489697838.602626.jpg
