Brisbane Lounge Changes

Is it one of the high, bar type tables? If so, yes, I'd believe it! Storyteller and I noticed it wobbling, and chocked it, at the opening party. ;)
No. One of the smaller tables near the oven that have a chair on one side and the long sofa type seating on the other side. They've really tried to squeeze in as many tables as possible there.

I had my first visit to BNE Dom J lounge. Very impressed on many levels..... the (Mexican) food isn't one of them. Dry, uninteresting, and lacking imagination. Sorry QF. Change to something else or up your game.

Used a different shower room today and noticed that the shower had some new contraption bolted on to the wall that holds all 3 Aspar bottles! Including the body cleanser :) The 2-bottle tray was still there but unused. Didn't check the shower room I previously used (occupied) but hopefully they've updated them all. Cantina's soft tacos today were much better than the first time thankfully. Also noticed they had a printed list of the wines on offer + brief description/notes at the bar, wish SYD/MEL did this. And yes, premium entry screening belt is very, very slow - also very high chance of getting the extra explosives test annoyingly.

I recently got a chance to visit the new Qantas Brisbane Domestic Business Lounge. I liked it a lot but there were still some minor finishing touches that need to be fixed (some areas happened been painted right, dust from construction still on floor in some corners). A lot better regarding additional space now but was still very full for around 6 pm (grab a seat when you can). I wrote a small lounge review with photos, including the wine listing!

I like this new lounge, once a few minor issues have been fixed (including queuing at main bar) this could become the best Qantas Domestic Business Lounge.

BTW I can imagine still entering the lounge via the old traditional entrance from the terminal gates if Premium Entry gets too packed.

Finally checked out the new lounge yesterday and the lounge itself is brilliant, far nicer layout and amenities than the Perth J lounge.

Unfortunately, the new priority entrance screening section is absolute rubbish! I had a group of 3 people in front of me and due to their fumbling about with baggage onto the automated system, it took over 5 minutes just to get through the screener. Then when I got up to the J entrance desk I had to stand waiting behind another couple who were having a nice old chat to old mate who was in no rush himself to finish up the convo and allow me into the lounge.

All in all the new lounge looks great but efficiency both on the system and human sides have alot of room for improvement.

I think sometimes it will be better to skip premium entry and use normal security and enter from the gate area instead. Either that or QF needs another security lane.

For J Lounge they should just let you 'flash' your card or boarding pass so Lounge agents can continue chatting.

Nearly 5:30pm Friday afternoon and all the food on offer is some vegetarian empanada, corn salad and boring all day dining including pumpkin soup. :(

Vegetarian spring rolls in the Qantas lounge much better option.

Not very impressed if this will continue every week.

My wife is starving. She didn't have lunch because I told her this new lounge is great. Huh! We've been here over 2 hours.

Go for a walk down towards the VA wing and grab a burger from Carls Jr :)

Even just heading to the QP might be more filling! I'm here, too. We're OK with the options, but our upgrades came through, so I'm trying not to fill myself before flying to ADL.

The group that were sitting next to me were saying the QP had better dining options. Mss 10 was very happy with a ham and cheese toastie.

my hsuband joked about going to Carl's Jnr when we were gettingour empanadas ....

Is there a pizza oven in this new lounge also like at PER?

Yes, it's being used for the cantina. Apparently didn't want to be repetitive.

They Cantina menu changes frequently.

On Wednesday this week they offered Quesadillas.

Was very tasty.

What's a Quesadillas? What's the problem with pizzas, too Italian? Clash between Roman and Napoli styles is too difficult to handle?

Pizza is ok but since Mr. Perry is the master of burgers he could have introduced a Burger Project inspired menu. Maybe that is going to be the theme in MEL...

Nailed it.

Absolute no brainer to serve up burgers (traditional bun style and in-a-bowl with lettuce) from Burger Project. Very tasty and satisfying but of course the QF budget would probably be shot.

Well visit number 2. The Mexican experience is seriously underwhelming! Major fail. At least the ovens can be adapted for pizza ðŸ

Better give them some feedback; given you're a foodie, some suggestions would be valuable.

As I said to one of the staff on the lounge opening night, Mexican is relatively simple and common - you need to get it right or it will flop horribly; there's nearly no in-between.

I wonder if there are any good Mexican themed pizzas one can think of? No, do not think of a spicy pizza, because that will not fly with everyone, even though I know I'd find one tasty.

From the lounge opening event, I found the quesadillas and nachos the most delicious. The empanadas had a nice pastry but didn't pack the same punch for flavour, and many may not like them because there's no meat (sorry to any vegetarians here). I'd almost think about getting some, cut them in half and stuff them with some meat that I could find on the buffet (e.g. sliced ham).
