Brisbane Lounge Changes

Brisbane International lounge.

Hi all

Does anyone know when the BNE QF international lounge will open and what the arrangements currently are?

It was a bit confusing when I flew QFJ out of BNE last. The check in staff did not really give me any options, which dawned on me when I got air side.

I ended up at the Emirates lounge, the front door staff were a bit hesitant to let me in there at first.

Since then have read the QF website which talks about the Plaza lounge and vouchers, but no mention of the Emirates lounge.

Cheers

Re: Brisbane International lounge.

Check the "Airport Lounge" section for further discussion on this.

You could have had access to the Plaza Premium lounge also. Well done on getting into the EK Lounge anyway.

Re: Brisbane International lounge.

Current arrangements allow for J passengers and OneWorld Sapphire members to use the Plaza Premium lounge. The sign at the entrance to the old lounge directs passengers to the Service Desk where they are either directed to the Plaza Premium lounge (J and OneWorld Sapphire I believe), Emirates lounge (OneWorld Emerald I believe) or provides food vouchers for the airport departures area (Qantas Club members I believe).

I believe the refurbished lounge is expected to be completed and open around the end of October.

Lounge Locations | Australia | Brisbane International | International Business

I have used the Plaza Premium lounge twice under this arrangement, first time traveling in Y as a OneWorld Sapphire member and asked at Service Desk about lounge access. Second time as J passenger and went straight to the PP lounge and welcomed.

Note I have merged this with the original thread regarding the BNE Int Lounge refurbishment.

Re: Brisbane International lounge.

Thanks guys. Wasn't aware of all of the info here.

Re: Brisbane International lounge.

As a WP in J, is the concensus to use the EK lounge? Also, where are CX sending their J pax?

I'm flying to Noumea in September.
So glad I read this thread and decided to fly through SYD instead.

Along the same vein does anyone know the opening hours of the EK lounge?

3 hours prior to each of their 3 flights:- EK433, EK434, & EK435

Currently:
EK433 departs at 05:00 until 29th September when it returns to 02:30 departure time.
EK434 departs at 08:10
EK435 departs at 21:00

"Normally" they have a minder in the lounge from 21:00 overnight till 08:10 the following day for people transferring off EK434 to EK433 or off EK432 to EK434. Doubt they will have the minder currently until 29th September when EK432/433 returns to 5th freedom via SIN again.

Thanks. Won't be able to use the EK lounge before my 1045 QF flight to NRT. :(

It's a long walk, even with travel agora, so if you go the EK route you need to allow enough time to get back to your QF gate, which are sometimes the complete opposite end.

Has anyone commented on the Domestic Business Class lounge changes yet?

They've cut the length of the lounge in half for the time-being with hoarding going up along where the final TV screen-wall used to be (perpendicular to the coffee barista station). Thye've punched a walkway through the bar area where the fridges used to be behind the counter into a new temporary space for the Business Lounge, which is a section stolen from the Qantas Club (where there used to be some benches and the newspaper/magazine stand, if I recall correctly).

The bar area and barista station is now in that section behind the food service area.

The area overall is probably not smaller than it used to be, there's just no windows in the new temporary area. A staff member mentioned that it will probably take about 4 months to complete the extensions.

Don't have any photos, sorry.

Was extremely crowded on Tuesday evening - the temporary new, windowless section in particular for some reason (close to the bar perhaps). Hope the extensions are substantial. BNE and MEL J lounges are just too crowded for me these days (most of the time).

The terminal building is going to be extended out - so will be a substantially bigger space overall. And won't be cheap to do!

Looked like a major amount of work going on at that end as the T Bus drove in. Good to hear it will be substantially bigger. If they can make better use of natural light that also makes a big difference (in my opinion).

The BNE Dom J lounge is certainly not a very pleasant place to be at the moment. Might move over to the QP or, as I have plenty of time to kill due to Chauffeur Drive issues, use the Platinum Charge and move down to the VA lounge.
