Brisbane Lounge Changes

Are you kidding?

i was there earlier this week - packed with no seats and very hot, hair in mushrooms, rotten apples and a huge queue for coffees. Not a Business Class lounge.

Ive also been in Sydney this week which was great - shame BNE passengers are once again devalued.

Trusting (hoping?) it will be better when all work is done.

No I am not kidding. I am in both BNE and SYD lounges almost every Friday and Sunday. The rotten apples are not limited to BNE lounge. The fruit in SYD lounge not much better at times.

When the BNE lounge is finally extended it will be on par with SYD so not sure how BNE will be devalued.

It's certainly better than closing it entirely which is what they've done in the past...!

Most of my flights ex-BNE are in the morning and never had any issues finding available seats. It may not look like a proper J lounge ATM but the super nice QF staff doing their best to reduce any inconvenience.

I've noticed some single seating in the temporary business lounge against the wall opposite the bar.

I hope that's a feature of the new lounge. Almost always the twin seats against the wall overlooking the taxiway are occupied by one person. Just like the seats next to the long white table.

I mentioned the twin seats in feedback some time ago so it's good to see they've taken my suggestion  It seemed obvious to me to create single seating to get more bums on seats.

This was after a Sunday afternoon in BNE J where it was jam packed. It's one of the only times I've felt the need to ask the QF team to call me back after completing a survey.

They've taken a large space out of the QP Dom, so I trust it will be replaced after the extensions. Getting affected by severe overgrazing at the moment.

Does any colleague know for sure, seen/heard/read when the QF BNEd J lounge (after fully "refreshed/renovated") will reopen.
Have done the QP at BNE several times, and yes, I do know that will be refreshed too down the track.
I am flying through 11/06/17 and was wondering if I should try the J service BNE - ADL.
Have tried J on the 737 before several times, can't complain, but would like to see the new BNE J lounge.
Thanks.

Thanks David.
I will forgo the MEL - BNE JQi flight, (787 dreamline on that JQ flight, dom pax on int flight), and instead use QFd MEL - BNE, whY and come back with QF BNE - ADL in J to use the QFd lounge at BNE.
Will be my first visit.
And yes, photos will be posted after the trip.

Was there yesterday, definitely a work in progress. The business lounge is only a marginal improvement on the normal Qantas club lounge at present. At least they had air conditioning this week.

I've always found the BNE J Dom lounge to be very sub standard, and we'll see how it goes when completed. I rarely go in there, I think the normal lounge is way better and I generally get a knowing smile from the desk staff when I head left when they point right. The only reason to go in there at the moment is the breakfast croissants.

If you like the PER J lounge (and the BNE Int J lounge) you'll like the new BNE Dom J lounge.

SYD and CBR are the only J lounges which I feel are sufficiently different from the regular lounge to be fussed about - and that's predominantly due to the fact that seating is much easier in both but almost always very tight in MEL and BNE. Haven't been to PER's regular lounge so can't really comment.

So I agree the BNE J lounge is average at best so am hopeful of a good refurb.

yes. But those portable A/C units are a bit noisy

We recently visited the international lounge and were impressed. A good improvement on the old lounge.

If only QF had a spot in MELi like it has at BNEi.
Had my first ever at BNEi
J lounge visit to a QF J lounge about 2013.
Even then it was better than MELi J.
BUT... there is a plan for me to visit the QF BNEi lounge soon.
