These latest track maps put the path pretty close to a direct hit on BNE. maybe with 10kms of the terminal buildings.

I wouldn't focus too much on forecast path ar that level of resolution, as there remains a lot of uncertainty. The entire shaded area on bom map is where the centre may pass. We've seen in the past 24 hours Alfred isn't exactly coming straight in - lots of wobbles.

And in the aviation theme,
On the new track posted above you can see that by now severe winds are starting to roar on the Gold Coast - the dark red line has crossed the coast.
So wind forecasts on Saturday morning. Now looking like flights may not be restarted.

The Gold Coast is in for a battering tomorrow.

And with an aviation theme, this is one (of many) sources for airport metar (i.e. current ) and can also click on "webcam" to see ool. Current wind gusts to 39kts (note not kph)

I did say forecast and they are BOM figures from their app. Next few hours forecast.

Gusts predicted to reach 100kph by 6pm tonight.
For BNE it is on the southern side of the path which is the worst side to be on for wind speeds.

QF and VA are stopping all BNE movements from 4PM, JQ from midday,

I'm due to fly MEL-BNE 6AM Saturday then join Pacific Encounter to the Pacific islands. It's all looking rather interesting at the moment. Will take it as it comes and hope for the best
I would not be surprised if she stays at Airlie

The ship due this morning is holding up near Rocky and there are no ships at anchor off the sunny coast

They had been told on board that Saturday PM was new arrival time, but I think Sunday seems more likely. Quantum of the Seas was due back tomorrow but that returned to Noumea and is planning a Monday return.

Still heading dead on for Casa Tiki in BNE northern suburbs. We did what we could, brought in outdoor furniture and stuff, have enough pantry food and pre-cooked meat for sandwiches, 16 litres of water ready and a few cases of diet Pepsi (non-drinkers). Our suburb isn't in a flood zone, was not affected in 1974. My main worry is the bay window on the top floor. It's a high set house, only the garage and laundry on the ground floor. The bay window is 3 metres off the ground, we can't reach it on a ladder to put plywood or anything. How can we protect this window? North facing.

Taping windows is a myth and may actually make the broken pieces (if it shatters) larger.
The other myth is to equalise the pressure. Just keep everything closed.
In short nothing you can do now. Climbing ladders is dangerous as it is, even in normal situations.

The winds and debris will be generally coming from the south at least initially
