I am the MD/owner of multiple retail stores/business's in the sex industry. Have been doing this successfully now for 25 years.

I am an executive of my industry's trade/lobbying body based in Canberra and one of several who have recently founded Australia's newest political organisation The Australian Sex Party.

This has allowed me at a personal level to spend most of my private life working in, and as a benefactor to, regional/rural anti violence initatives, rural youth suicide prevention & HIV Aids prevention/services, censorship, civil liberty's and social justice projects.
My travel involves political candidacy's in the past and present, seats on a range of committe's and groups both private sector and govn't. I travel internationally yearly to Berlin, LA, Palm Springs and Jburg for trade/industry, conferences/tradeshows.
Domestic to most capitals multiple times annually.

Recreational travel could see me anywhere several times a year, although l tend to add on to business travel.
I am self funded for all travel except some business industry stuff, and mostly premium cabins. I have to many FF Miles because l can never use the b#*@*y things.

Life is never boring for me!

I'm owner of a small web biz. We run from kinda remote / not big city QLD - but service clients in all the big cities, so often off seeing old and new clients, conferences, trade events etc- so all tax deductible :-)

Prob 80% business - 20% personal trips

I don't have some huge company or govt buying my tickets, so J Class trips are far and few between ;)

Frequent Flyers,
Due to prolonged university holidays which have left me bored and seperated from my friends (Currently in Melbourne) i decided to tally up the jobs that we all had, for those who fly as part of their profession. Of course, no jobs are identical, but overall, this is what I have found, in a process that took a lot longer then I was expecting:

-Magagement 16
-Students and Acedemics 10
-I.T. 7
-Public Service 6 (Three of whom may also be considered managers)
-Engineering 6
-Medical 4
-Social Work 2
-Accountancy 2
-Travel Industry 1
-Photography 1
-Consultancy 1
-Investment Banking 1
-Industry Association 1
-Insurance 1
-Oil and Gas 1
-Sales 1
-Training 1

There you have it, but there are also 2 people who were "Employees of multinationals". I would also expect many of the managers to also be managing multinationals as well. Furthermore, I also noted that many of the managers we have managed firms relating to I.T.

Hope this helps

Until recently, a self employed BI consultant with clients in North America& Aus. Bi-monthly return SYD-LAX trips (with internal non-OW connections),and domestic leisure within NSW. Occasional leisure trips to Europe or Asia. All Y (except for the odd Y+ or J point upgrades).

Recently self-employed IT Business Systems & BI consultant curently working with Airport owners after >8 years at CNS. Currently travel frequently to OOL, with recent new work at SYD. When I travel, I can't help but think how I can help improve the systems for data capture and revenue generation in the terminals - would you guys mind completing a stats card each time you flew??? ;) That would help us understand how to extract more $$$

I find a pleasant approach and smile, along with a precious ASIC card, are very helpful for making my Y travel a bit more bearable. Flights CNS-OOL don't suit business travel times too well at the moment, so I enjoy 'flying' down the Motorway from BNE, often in an XR6 hire-car.

Self-funded or client-paid business trips, and a few personal trips to BNE to visit the ever-growing number of nieces and nephews.

With a new business, I travel where the work is, and the benefit of Airport industry is its diversity: retail, commercial, property management, car park management, logistics etc., not just the specific aero-related systems. Anyone who's got some work and wants my CV, PM me :D

My role is a Corporate trainer for a mining company mainly FIFO to the Pilbara area in WA. With a 9 days on 5 days off roster and a passion for travel both domestic and international it allows me to keep WP but fall short of PG (but being single it doesnt really matter). Which touches on the QP discussions of mining clothing (flouro) in the lounge, not me!! i prefer to leave the Karratha Kamoflage at work, i wish others had the same outlook.

Now I am depressed - I thought I had the best job going, "flying around the world in J and blowing stuff up", but you have trumped me. Time to seriously consider a career change.

Litigation lawyer specialising in construction and engineering matters.

I made QFSG this year based mainly on a major matter which had me travelling regularly to SYD (from ADL), and a few times to PER, BNE, MEL and CBR. That matter is coming to an end, so I expect less travel in the next 12 months - most likely PER.

On the other hand, I now earn enough to generate serious points on credit card spend. I plan to make regular JASA trips for pleasure, not business. Hoping to get 100K to travel to SIN for the Grand Prix later in the year.

CEO of Software start-up based in SYD

Each year 6 x trips to PER and total 6 other cities (all Y) doesn't get me to WP but the semi-self-funded DONE4 with associated optimization discovered on AFF does :p

In middle of DONE4 at the moment, enjoying 'exceptional' weather in France with Mrs Paddy, who thinks I'm nuts, but who did enjoy the F Award flight experience SYD-LHR on her own, and is looking forward to the Platinum enhanced J Award back to SYD on an A380 next week with me! :p

In a wholesaling business for 32 years I own a lot of but not all. Now I work 2 days a week and hope to have about 12 weeks a year travelling overseas as I transition to retirement.
As a CPA and Chartered Secretary for about 40 years I really hope I don't have to go back into professional practice with all those clients worrying about having too much or too little money.
Our latest investment is a social housing group of boarding houses that are being built to code to reduce homeless numbers in my home town. We are hoping to house several hundred and get them back into society without government help. My partner in this is a builder and we have two running and two sites to develop.
I blogged the Frequent Flyer Fiend entries to get folks thinking about a thread to fly for the wholesale price up the front of the plane.

Investor in software start-ups and internet advertising companies.

Usually 200k+ BIS miles per year, 50/50 business (global) and holiday travel.

Just returned from Maui/Lanai-SFO-LAX-Eastern Canada (YUL, YYZ, YOW).

20 day trip, squeezed in 8 rounds of golf, a few meetings, two baseball games, a few drinks and two birthdays (mother and brother).

Next up Singapore and India in May, Japan and China in June, and family holiday in USA late June/mid July.

Great work.

Drron the decision to help reduce homeless numbers was easy. Allocating a chunk of net worth was easy. Finding the builder was a lucky break as his mother was in social housing before she retired and she wanted him to do it.
The idea is any surplus goes back into more places.
Churches and Government cannot do it alone based on what I see.
I think of this as a social project that is an investment in our towns future and my little bit is to be a long term financial backer of a great idea.

IT Security Sales, fly weekly domestically and OS (not including New Zealand) 5-6times a year.

Doing it all in economy means it is VERY difficult to get to Platinum.

The structure of QF's FF program is not rewarding unless you are flying business and long haul regularly.

unless you fly often and at full economy, im getting 30 SC each way with around 24 return work flights a year plus leisure flights helps me keep WP

I'm a state sales manager in the film industry, only ever domestic work flights then gfc came and they were reduced, 90% of my travel is self funded now
