Cathay Pacific Delays/Cancellations

coriander, your wife's A350 sat at the end of runway 06 for ages due to a procession of incoming flights, but it took off at 1611 Philippine time. So that means 1805 or so at the gate in HKG.

Just got message from Mrs C at 1626 that they are finally airborne - multiple apologies from staff scurrying around to soothe J class passengers with champers and food.

Mrs C's adventures on CX continue: Sunday 22 April CX135 (HKG-MEL) was on final approach into MEL when it aborted its landing then headed for SYD due to fog closing in at MEL. Now in SYD waiting for stairs and buses to be deplaned.

8.00am update: captain has advised pax on CX135 that the crew are out of hours and another crew is being brought in, hopefully by about lunchtime! whY passengers are being given meal vouchers and J passengers will be transferred to a lounge (does CX have its own lounge in SYD?).

coriander, assuming that the flight crew signed on in HKG for this flight only last night, running out of hours is a tad surprising because this wasn't a problem for PR209 or GA716, both of which also diverted to SYD with the PR flight back in MEL at about 0930 hours and the GA one coming in at around 1130. MNL isn't that much less in time for a flight than HKG.

Mrs C sure has some tales to tell. Many other return trips may have gone like clockwork: not this one.

CX135 on Sunday 22 April, the 0735 hours MEL - HKG has been altered to depart at 1510 hours.

CX135 has completed boarding in SYD at 1215 and is awaiting clearance to move .A few months ago we flew CX134 to Hong Kong to connect with an AY flight with a 2-3 hour connection time in HKG . A7+hr delay would have caused a cascade of missed connections .

The delayed CX135 took off from SYD at 1235 hours so MEL arrival should be at around the 1353 hours mark. A350 B-LRC is the aircraft.

This is likely to delay CX134, the 0735 hours that was amended to depart at 1510 to beyond that time.

One assumes some connecting passengers to mainland China or elsewhere will have to stay the night in Hong Kong.

It looks like CX105 the 00:10 departure HKG-MEL had to divert back to HKG, returning at 05:16. It appears to have departed again at 09:34 and is now expected to land at 20:55, nearly 10 hours late.

CX104, the return MEL-HKG has a delayed departure time from 14:20 to 22:05, nearly 8 hours.

On Tuesday 8 May 2018, CX101, a redeye from HKG to SYD (B773ER B-KQP) is arriving at about 1244 hours, 116 minutes behind schedule.

CX162, the 1015 morning Thursday 31 May 2018 scheduled 1015 hours SYD - HKG (B773ER B-KQO) took off at the extremely delayed time of 2201 hours. Arrival is suggested as 0543 on Friday 1 June instead of 1750 this afternoon, so almost 12 hours or half a day late. This aircraft had arrived in SYD this morning at 0818 hours, 27 minutes early on CX161 so something fairly major must have gone wrong.

Tuesday 5 June 2018 has CX161 (2135 hours Monday HKG - SYD that took off at 2254 with B773ER B-KQP) arriving at a suggested 0920 hours, 35 late.

Wednesday 6 June 2018 sees CX162 (B773ER B-KPO, the scheduled 1015 hours SYD up to HKG that did not take off until 1133 hours) suggested as arriving at 1837, 47 late.

Sunday 24 June 2018 finds CX174, the early mroning 0625 hours ADL - HKG not having taken off until 0745 hours. A333 B-LAP should arrive at 1503 this afternoon, 78 late.

Late on Thursday 28 June 2018, CX163 from HKG to MEL (B773ER B-KQL) is arriving at 2250 hours, 55 late. CX178, the 2340 hours back overnight to HKG will be delayed for at least 25 minutes in its departure.

CX163, the Tuesday 3 July 1040 hours HKG down to MEL (B773ER B-KQZ) took off at 1154 so arrival is expected at 2229 hours, 34 late.

Friday 6 July 2018's CX139, the 0910 hours (B773ER B-KQD) that took off at 1048 has on a gate-to-gate basis picked up time as arrival should be at 2108, 48 late. CX138, the return flight is timetabled to depart at 2155 so it ought be able to be off blocks (if all goes well) at around the 2205-2210 mark.

CX178 on 6 July delayed due to last arrival of in coming flight ETA at HKG 9:47am. That is nearly 3 hours later than that scheduled.

On Friday 6 July 2018, CX111, the 1850 hours HKG down to SYD (A333 B-HLQ) did not take off until 2145 hours. Arrival should be at 0827 hours, 132 minutes late. The flight is closely followed by CX161 (B773ER B-KQZ), the 2135 hours ex HKG that took off on time at 2200, so its arrival in SYD should be 0829, 16 minutes early.

It wouldn't be often that two CX flights land within a few minutes of each other in Australia.

CX110, the 0735 hours SYD - HKG will be delayed until at least 0940 hours in its departure. This presumably means missed connections for some in HKG, as other AFFers have commented above re similarly delayed flights.

Updating the above, on 7 July, CX110 took off from SYD at 1124 so this 0735 hours scheduled flight will be arriving at 1840, 200 minutes late.
