Cathay to cut worldwide capacity by 30% [Now 96%]

I hope you get to book another ticket in advance if this flight is cancelled
Ideally I would like to book the tickets with my points and I will only have enough once refunded. Obviously that would be dependent on Reward booking availability. Otherwise I'll just have to purchase an overpriced one way ticket unfortunately.

@TraveltoParty - CX has now released its June schedule. As expected, no Barcelona - you need plan B now to get rolling!
yep, they cancelled my flight! Luckily there was still some availability around those dates for classic rewards economy. Have to first fly to Madrid instead of Barcelona.

A shame, as it was going to be my partners first flight in Business.

I can see 2 seats in J on several dates in early June flying Finnair or Malaysian from BKK or KUL. Maybe have a poke around and see if you can find something that works.

good luck on getting the flights that you wanted... and as i said... it is still high risk to travel via HKG at this time, not just Covid, but other issues in the region... better be safe than sorry... I am saying this gently to you and hope you get the best out of this trip, especially after 2 years of suffering from Covid lockdowns

Thanks tom, definitely not looking to travel or transit through Hong Kong anytime soon or the foreseeable future. My trip will proceed no matter what! I can't wait to get out of Australia for a bit.

The only OW J reward AU/EU return I could find was via HEL. As a passenger on a MH17 flight prior to the disaster I am not going to risk flying in that part of the world for now.

It make sense to have such feelings especially you were impacted like this… I wish all could return to as close to normal as soon as possible

They don't overfly Russia. Instead over Romania, Poland and Slovakia then join the conga line of the ME3 over Turkey.

Interesting the powers above gave this (big) move the green light
