CEO retiring, what changes at Qantas would you like to see

My request is simple. Free range coughtails in the First lounges.

If we have to choose - then Espresso Martinis. Enough with this one standard drink nonsense. It's ridiculous when I can go downstairs to the J lounge and pour myself a full tumbler of vodka.

It's been awhile! Today has been a hot bed of action. Now that the rotten core is finally being removed as of tomorrow, change can occur. My wishlist:
1) More widebody aircraft on domestic services generally
2) Australian Call Center
3) New Qantas Board
Agree the 737s on long haul domestics and trans Tasman are unpleasant to say the least !

More business reward availability at 355 days out

And beef up the website for anticipated demand when they are released - we all remember what happened on the website this past Feb..

I’d like to see the end of change fees for reward itineraries and I don’t mean just OneWorld Award ones .

Not necessarily thru the fault of QF, reward seat availability comes out in dribs and drabs.

For some airlines , award seats may be on offer say 11 months out , and others in the week before departure . So the initial booking is rarely the same as the most recently updated one particularly when the itinerary involves more than a couple of segments.

Thru no fault of our own, we need to make changes to our itineraries and each change ends up costing change fees / deduction of points .

If QFF can’t fix their booking system to allow for post initial booking changes on line , then the next best option is not to charge/deduct points for changes !

Here's a few that come to mind for me - sorry not sorry, if I upset any potentially impacted persons! ;):
  • Confirmed Business classic reward upgrades for International bookings, in advance, working the same way as with Domestic. Potentially limited to certain fare buckets (Y/B/H/K), with others remaining as a lottery until nearer to travel.
  • Redeemable Upgrade vouchers from Flex Y/B/H/K to J on x number of DOM / short-haul INT flights, as with VA and many international carriers (number and eligibility increases with status and in-year SC total)
  • No access to QF lounges when travelling on JQ, unless on QF codeshare, JQ 'Business', Max bundles, or for Platinum members and above.
  • No more Qantas Club paid membership... access to lounges only available via status, or class of service; grandfather existing / LTQP accounts as needed.
  • Meaningful and ongoing hotel status matching with desired partner. Flying frequently usually = staying in hotels frequently; leverage that better!
  • Improvements to customer care, including expansion of the onshore / nearshore team, and re-introduction of proper live chat
Cheers,
Matt.

This thread is an excellent way to understand people's personal travel patterns - just look at all the things they want to start happening and know that this fits what they personally do. Then look at all the things they want to stop happening and you know that's what they don't personally do. Then look for the exceptions to stopping those things happening and you can tell they fit into each of those exceptions.

Although the latest branding of the referendum on several aircraft has received a negative reaction from a few, most of what you call “virtue signalling” is actually them acting as a good corporate citizen for both their customers and staff. Those who come from marginalised and minority backgrounds know they’ll be welcome in a safe inclusive environment.

Are you referring to the acknowledgement of country after landing? I actually think that’s a nice touch and fits well in with modern Australian culture, and if you don’t get out much you’d be surprised how many groups in the country now do an acknowledgement of country at events. It’s actually one of the better pieces of symbolism the airline promotes now, and like it or not the airline is a symbol of the nation itself, and will continue to be long into the future.

Dress codes are not particularly elite. They are horribly lower middle class.
no, but dress standards are :)

Give me the tools to do my job.
👆👆👆

Give the employees the tools to do the job. A lot of companies actually restrict their employees not understanding that their employees really do have the capability to fix problems. Without the support from management, comes an inability to help their customers, so they can't and eventually they won't.

Treat me as an asset, not a burden.

Give me the tools to do my job.

Listen. I don't expect everything to be done, but just genuinely listen. No more "employee engagement surveys" - we're disengaged.

Says it all. But its not just AJ that caused this.

The MEL maintenance base was packed yesterday. The car park was overflowing from staff going in to celebrate.

11) Qantas should stop compensating passengers with meaningless points. Give them a proper cash refund. It also add a certain urgency for the airline to get its act together when it is giving away cash due to poor performance.

I think at this point in time. QF is best served if it does not make itself more elitist.
It it really wants to be the "Spirit of Australia" - elitism should not be part of it
Definitely, right now anything that are aimed at the elite being more comfortable would be seen as tone deaf. Especially with the backdrop of everything else happening around the country.

Things that benefit overall experiences of everyone flying as well as the staff is basically what needs to happen now urgently.

That doesn't mean things like lounges don't need improvement, it just means it needs to be done later or quietly.

Says it all
Though I disagree with Qantas being a national airline.
There is nothing national about Qantas other than the slogan "Spirit of Australia", and the Roo. Other than that I don't see anything "Australian" about it.
(OK and restrictions of the Qantas Act)

We are all born wearing the same clothes.
Ok you got me there:). But other than that.......
