Daniel,

We flew out today.

Sorry we could not catch up as the last few days have been very hectic.

As I posted elsewhere we had to endure sitting in the Chairman's Lounge as the QP was too crowded. ;)

That's OK Bill. I spent most of the week in bed. Will catch up next time I'm over your way :)

I got the email today inviting me to come on over to the Macquarie card. I noticed that with the new program there is only one $99 rate card instead of two.

Did your email offer $20 off - ie $279?

I got the email reminder today to join the Hilton Macquarie Platinum Card. Even with the great discount of $20 on the $295 annual membership fee;), I won't be joining as I don't stay enough in domestic Hiltons to get value from this card.

As a side note, I still have 2 "member for a stay" cards. Can I use these myself later on? if so, do I need to activate them now? (and can someone point out how I do this now with Macquarie taking over the scheme? thanks)

Yes you can use them (this is what most of us are planning to do), and no there does not appear to be any expiry on them.

I have received two snail mails and two emails (and two breakfast/wine vouchers) offering HMPC.

Still in two minds - straightman's negotiated deal was a no brainer.

I have one HPC member card left and will need it for Ozfest (my own accommodation) if I don't go to Maq Bank.

Do I need to activate the cards now, tho?

I was thinking either they have no expiry, or you activate them now, or you make a dummy booking on a cancellable rate and apply the card. Then, when you need to use it, just change the reservation to the new date and rates, however you'll need to tell the engine to retain whatever discount codes were used to apply the -20% discount in the first place. (AFAICT HPC applies its discounts on bookings by entering a corporate code with relevant file comments).

I was going to ask if people had received an invite to join as yet. I have received nothing :!:

hi
appreciate any inf pl. My old Hilton Prem Club membership is still current. If i join new Macq hilton program what do i get? do you have to use your Hilton Macq credit card to pay for Hilton stays? do you accrue Hilton Honors point with this credit card or some other points? presumably you still get your $99 night and 20% off best published deals on room rates?
thank for your help :)

It was always only 1 per year.

Ahhh, of course. I got two through Straitman's special deal but that was a two year membership.
No it wasn't.

I joined the club back in '05 when it was the "Hilton Diamond Club"; amongst other vouchers subscribers received two of these "Member for a stay".

This continued with the name change "Hilton Premium Club" in 2006 and afterward. It was only with straitman's negotiated 2 year deal the number of cards per year was reduced to one - for that deal only. If I had renewed for one year back in '08 I would have received two then and a further two with an '09 renewal.

In essence you got two $99 vouchers at each renewal, rather than per year (although most memberships were per year).

Now it is one per renewal.

Oops, I was confusing "Welcome to Hilton" vouchers with "Member For a stay".

Up until Macquarie took over, upon annual renewal one would normally receive ONE $99 "Welcome to Hilton" and TWO Guest Pass "Member for a Stay".

Strangely that was what was written - but I always got two of each.

I have also received the email with the $275 HMPC offer. Don't know what to do as I really do not need another credit card.

I am over Hotel loyalty programs and I still have 4 "Member for a Stay" cards to use for future stays.

Then use it until the expiry date and then you will be approached by Macquarie with emails (and snail mail) to join the new program

See Hilton Macquarie web page

do you have to use your Hilton Macq credit card to pay for Hilton stays?
No, you don't have to - I changed at check-out (ADL Hilton) to my preferred Amex with no issues.

do you accrue Hilton Honors point with this credit card or some other points?
Yes, these rates are valid for HH points accrual as well as points through whichever CC you use. The program under Macquarie is not linked to any othes, so I have no desire to use the CC for anything other than the annual fee (which incorporates the Hilton Priority Club - the only value I perceive in holding the CC).

presumably you still get your $99 night and 20% off best published deals on room rates?
Yes, first point noted on the web page

thank for your help :)
