Glad to hear that all was sorted out.

In my experience the QFF program is one of the friendlier FF programmes to apply original routing credit when the rebookings were due to delays beyond the control of the passenger.

John,
I would have to agree, i got another original routing credit last week from a BA flight that i was re-booked onto LH. Just had to forward them a copy of the details and stubs. Now to decide if i should also try to claim the LH segment to a *A program.... ;)

Re: ODU - Jetstar Starclass

FYI I'm now sitting in the J lounge at SYD heading out on JQ65 for KUL.

I managed to get a ODU for $300 seated in 2D which is nice. I tried to bargain the fee down to $200 but was told this rate only applied to JQ flights to KIX? I thought this was strange seeing as KUL is much closer than KIX but I don't dare question JQ rationale as the overall upgrade offer seemed very hesitant so I took it without much argument.

Do you get reissued a *Class BP at the gate as my BP still lists my ticket type as LITE (I got a sale fare) which won't help much when it comes time to claim J points + SCs.

Ah... the good ol' double dip. I've had four in the last six months. One thanks to QF where I was pushed over to DJ (ok, only a velocity double dip) and I was still credited points to AA.
AA bungled quite a few flights on me recently thanks to a late departure of AA61 DFW NRT back in late Feb. This meant I could double dip to VS on an SQ flight that I was booked on, and AA even went further and booked me all the way to SYD at their expense - so I got more miles as well as the original mileage credit. I just have to work out how to get back to SIN to use the outstanding ticket.
AA also managed mess up a flight for me out of LAX and put me over to UA which managed to post in M&M with no probs along with the original mileage credit on AA.

How did you get on? Did points & SC show up on your statement?

Sorry for the delay in my reply...all my points and SC's as per J class were added to my QF account a few days after my flight - no problems.

Good Morning All

We are flying from SYD to HNL next Friday with JS..but departing MEL on a Q domestic flight to SYD where our bags will be checked all the way through to HNL ( it was a cheaper way of going when I originally booked the flights) question is can I request JS upgrade to Starclass at Melbourne with Qantas or go to a JS desk at Melbourne and request or do I take my boarding pass to the JS desk in Sydney ? Would value any advice..thanks and have a good Anzac Day

My ODU was done at the JQ service desk at SYD International. I would suggest first try the Qantas service desk at Melb Domestic and see what happens.

The ODU process seems very amatuer with JQ...meaning you get strange looks when asking, a price is rattled off to you with uncertainty giving you the feeling you may be able to get it lower if you have enough charm, your CC number is written down on a small piece of paper for processing later and you are handed nothing but a tiny generic JQ receipt with 'upgrade' written on it. At least this was my experience in Sydney last month before departing for KL. I actually enquired at the gate before departing about my ability to get J class points as my boarding pass had no mention of *Class on it and I had this tiny coughpy receipt with 'upgrade' written on it. The JQ guy took my QFF number and said he'd make sure my J points were added...and they were! Not sure how I would have gone trying to claim points via the manual process with QFF?

So no new boarding pass with the new seat allocation in *Class? That is very amateurish....

Sorry I was issued a new boarding pass in seat 2B but my original ticket class stayed there - Jetsaver - which I queried because I was thinking I had to use the pass to do a manual claim for points - the JQ girl tells me 'they will know seat 2B is *Class' but I was not sure of it.

All worked out in the end. I will be trying the ODU again at KL next week :D

Thanks for your posts -lots of good info there. Good luck at KL :)

Re: ODU - Jetstar Starclass

Thanks for the great information in this thread. Can anyone advise whether you can secure an ODU from the Jetstar Service Desk BEFORE the check-in gate opens 3 hours before departure?

I don't think you can. Unless *Class is full you will have no problem upgrading if you are first in line. Even if you are not first in line you can line up in the *Class preferred queue ahead of economy passengers to request the upgrade.

Re: ODU - Jetstar Starclass

Thanks Max. I must have miss understood because I thought you went to a separate customer service counter rather than the *class check-in.

I'm guessing that the vast majority of flights have spare capacity in *class judging from the booking system. I've only ever notice one flight sold out.

I travelled in *class not long after they launched and we wouldn't have had 10 pax in the cabin. I assume it's more popular now.

Re: ODU - Jetstar Starclass

When we arrived in Sydney I stood at the Service Counter for * Class and my husband was first in the queue for check in. The guy at the Service counter was adamant that he would not talk to me until the proper check in time and as it happens they opened the check in line first and we upgraded from there. They would not allow us to upgrade from Melbourne. There were a few other people in my line but one was a staff member and he just had to wait I think as he did not have a booking at all. I had to follow through with the FF points for the journey on my return to Melbourne and kept boarding passes etc. We also managed to upgrade on the flight back from HNL. Cost from Sydney was $300 AU each and $250 US on the return journey, well worth it. Good Luck

Re: ODU - Jetstar Starclass

Hi guys - I've done a *class ODU 3 times. KUL-SYD was $300. Wasn't a FF member then so didn't follow up on points. Was good trip - more leg room and was a night flight so the extra recline was nice.

This year did Syd - Ho chi minh was $300 Aud. Not many people at all in the cabin. Good food. Then did it return, was $300USD (which they wouldn't budge on). I think as long as you get there 3 hours before take off when the check-in opens, you will be fine getting an upgrade. Then you can also spent the extra time having a wine or two in the qantus lounge.

I've logged a claim for the points for this trip. But its really taking a long time. They have said it will take 14 days.

I'll let the forum know how I go.
:)

for the FF points they get sent to JQ to verify, and JQ hasn't received this information from QF as yet (it get done in bulk)..

And the last bulk amount they sent us took about 3 weeks to complete, they had to go over 6000 bookings (1st time it's ever been over 1500)

Re: ODU - Jetstar Starclass

I have never had to follow up on getting the points from my ODUs - guess I have been lucky. I'm now in HNL flying back to SYD this week so I will try again for the ODU (even better seeing I am on a sale fare - not sure when I'll be flying to HNL again for $450 return!)

Wow - no wonders its taken so long. I should of said I didn't have my FF number with me as was a new member. So I had to make a claim for missing points. I faxed my boarding passes. Which stated *class on them. Qantas called to say they are being processed.

Gilby you sound like you your in the know - will I recieve FF points and SC for these flights? (Syd - Ho Chi Minh return in *class) As they were ODU.

Technically the upgrade policy states that ODU's will NOT get FF points, but the ones that have actually been moved to a J class, rather than just seat assign will get them, as they can't be bothered going in depth into every booking. Also depends if the person doing them is nice or not :P

I will just have to hope that as they have so many to process that they didn't do too much digging with mine. That and someone nice! Thanks for the insight. I'll let the thread know... might be a bit of wait... :)
