Changes to QF lounges in Singapore

Why all the discussion on ports having First services? If you go by many of the comments of WP's they are integral part of QF's WP/OWE offering to attract and retain high value customers. The key metric would have to be number of services/passengers through given port rather than number of F passengers. Whilst on one hand you probably won't see ADL getting an F lounge, on the other hand if First Lounges were designed for First Passengers the lounges in MEL and SYD would be much much smaller.....

I agree with much here - interesting though that AA got rid of their Flagship lounge at DFW - even though they have DOM and INT F flying through there.

In the end JohnK it's chump change compared to the benefits and savings of going via DXB
Chump change may not be the right word for a company leaking money everywhere.

At least the SIN lounges won't be as overcrowded.
True. I am diverting my SE Asian travel back via SIN with Qantas so hopefully better flight times and less crowded lounges.

Just flew (upgraded) F to LHR via SIN and was very disappointed with he lounge. It was packed way beyond comfort. Getting back on he plane was a relief. Isn't it supposed to be the other way round?

The J and F lounges in in Singapore are both undergoing renovation/redevelopment. The F lounge in particular has struggled capacity-wise in the evenings when all the BA and QF flights have their 'peak hour', hence to the need to renovate. Temporarily, what was F is J, and what was J is F, with some additional tweaks to whom is allowed entry where. I think this work is due for completion by end of this year (??) and hopefully the outcome will be a good one. We'll see!

So how long does it take to renovate this so called improved lounge? I mean.. I guess.. I understand that it is only a refurb.. Is some/one/people/board still deliberating on the enhanced colour scheme ?? whilst the premium passengers are downgraded to an endless continued less satisfying lounge experience :(

Have you absorbed the first post of this very thread (it was posted late May)?

Sure did absorb.. but knowingly how efficient Singapore is.. really can't fathom how long it takes for a simple refurb of lounge.. Simply glad am still partaking in the luxe facilities of the SQ SK lounge past, present & future.. QF always had the chance tho..

That's a question best directed to Qantas I guess. :)

The completion timing mentioned in the first post has not changed as far as I know. Physical construction work had not started at the time when this thread had its genesis.

Sure.. & also to the OP Red Roo.. just guess 'end of year" kind of means December 31 round abouts..
Anyway, IMHO a crowded reduced service & spacious premium lounge is certainly not on my desired itinerary after a lengthy flight. :(

Now that you mentioned it... it generally takes the same time to build an entire shopping mall or a condominium development here. A lounge really should be done in a matter of weeks, if that at all.

Singapore is extremely efficient at new constructions. Refurbishments tend to take a lot longer, for some reason (money). I've seen whole buildings go up in the same time it takes to refurb a dozen or so shops.

It's standing room only in the SIN business lounge at the moment.

And those that aren't standing are sitting on the floor!

Its times this I have used my Diners Club card to enter the SATS lounge next door. Never seen it crowded and food is often better.

I wonder what happens to the lounge upgrade now that Singapore won't be such a hub for Qantas?
Maybe they will reassess how much they are prepared to invest in Singapore

I told you so...

Qantas to scrap first class lounge at Singapore
Qantas will close its first class lounge at Singapore, leaving only a business lounge at Changi Airport for Qantas business class travellers as well as Platinum and Gold frequent flyers...

Qantas to scrap first class lounge at Singapore - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller

Being based in SIN, it looks like my soon-to-be WP status is "enhanced" even before I've obtained it...

This really cheeses me off. AJ is reported at the Emirates announcement stating that the Singapore F lounge would go ahead. Now a couple of weeks later - not so much. Red Roo started the thread and would appreciate explanation.
