Changes to QF lounges in Singapore

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

I sort of knew that (re lack of F ex BNE) - just see that as a missed opportunity given the wealth there.

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

True, there is room there, but then why do the switcheroo of the current J and F lounges.
I'd suggest a temporary solution to First lounge overcrowding which reports indicate has become a real problem.

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

Probably due to the fact that the QF services out of BNE do not have an F cabin (or at least no seats are sold as F).

Interesting comparison with MEL - QF has more international services into and out of BNE than it does to/from MEL, yet MEL gets an F lounge because there are still F seats sold on the MEL flights.

Other interesting thing is MEL no longer has any (scheduled) QF 747 flights, while BNE has 747s on SIN, LAX and DFW.

I guess we're too yobbo in BNE to deserve F service? :(

Mind you, QF isn't alone. With the exception of EK and EY (of which the former has no formal F lounge - just one lounge - and the latter doesn't even operate their own lounge), no carrier servicing BNE I has F service on it (e.g. CX, TG, SQ, MH etc.)

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

It would be interesting to know how many WP used the MEL F lounge c/f how many WP transit BNE. Could be a good argument for an F lounge there to keep the status pax with QF. With the removal of F from many flights, perhaps it is time to consider renaming the First lounge the Platinum lounge.

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

Isn't EY BNE-xSIN-AUH J/Y only? Didn't think there was F.

Business customers are permitted in the temporary First Lounge to avoid over crowding of the temporary Business Lounge. The amended access policy is designed to balance guests across the capacity of both lounge locations and provide everyone with the best lounge experience possible during this time.

When the new First Lounge opens, First customers will move back to that lounge and the normal access policies will be reinstated.

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear.
What I meant was how many WPs transit BNE (who can't fly F) vs the number in MEL who don't fly F. In other words how many actual F pax is MEL F lounge catering for, as opposed to WPs? Given enough WPs in BNE surely there would be scope for a P lounge.

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

Red Roo, is the new F lounge to be within the confines of the current infrastructure, or in a new location?

I'm most probably not the norm, but from all my flights over the past 5 years (click on Flight Memory in my sig for the full stats) I've travelled through BNE only once for ADL-BNE-SIN-TPE return. It doesn't even make my top ten.

Sorry to say that I've used the BNE Flounge too many times....I'm a late starter to this caper, so I'm still entering data - have around another 100+ return MCY-SYD-MCY to enter.

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

Thank you for posting, Red Roo.

It's not clear but the suggestion from "that lounge" is that the new F lounge will be exactly where it is now.

I read it differently - I reckon "that Lounge" refers to "the new First lounge" - being a different area.

I am thinking that once "the new First lounge" opens, the old First Lounge area will be absorbed by an expanded Business lounge.

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

Wish the J lounge will start it operating hours in the morning. Fly 3K twice a month.

Me too... I wrote in to whinge about the removal of morning hours but didn't hear back. The SIN J lounge was the lounge I used the most - it was great to prepare for meetings in KUL having had a shower, a bite and a bit of last minute preparation. Now I just arrive at those meetings smelly, tired and hungry (unless I've paid to use facilities elsewhere... which defeats the purpose of my QP membership).

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

Is T1 at Changi being renovated? Recently renovated? Anyone know? I heard renovations were planned. I'm going through SIN in July and get the feeling I'll be in a construction zone.

Ex BNE I believe only KE and EK offer First Class.

Was there two weeks ago & didn't notice anything out of the ordinary......as you can see QF lounges are about to change.
