Changes to QF lounges in Singapore

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

You are supposed to get access when flying Jetstar but they now shut the SIN lounges in the morning meaning you get nothing if you fly on JQ/3K.

Pretty broad statement. I certainly had access travelling 3K SIN-KUL the other week. I think you mean "if you fly certain flights on JQ/3K". ;)

F lounge staff in SIN are shocking.

They are lot better in the other lounge.

F lounge staff member could not even give me a boarding pass she told me to ring QF and they would sort it out.

I've found them fine. The lounge itself isn't amazing (and QF are clearly addressing that - woohoo :)) but the staff I've found to be helpful.

I sort of knew that (re lack of F ex BNE) - just see that as a missed opportunity given the wealth there.

Fair point, but QF probably see it as - "what's the opportunity for QF"? How is giving the OWEs a nicer lounge going to increase revenue (apart from the notion that some people might try harder for OWE and in doing so, fly on QF more)?

Is T1 at Changi being renovated? Recently renovated? Anyone know? I heard renovations were planned. I'm going through SIN in July and get the feeling I'll be in a construction zone.

They were changing some flooring (and constructing the Millionaires competition booth) when I was there, but apart from that nothing else that I could see 2 weeks ago.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

I'm most probably not the norm, but from all my flights over the past 5 years (click on Flight Memory in my sig for the full stats) I've travelled through BNE only once for ADL-BNE-SIN-TPE return. It doesn't even make my top ten.

Well blow me down - it actually does make my top 10!

Sorry to say that I've used the BNE Flounge too many times....I'm a late starter to this caper, so I'm still entering data - have around another 100+ return MCY-SYD-MCY to enter.

I’ve also got some more entries to add, and lived for many years of my life in HKG, but…

BNE 144
HKG 56
CHC 46
MEL 39
SYD 39
ZQN 34
ROK 20
BKK 16
TSV 16
MKY 12

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

SIN T1 is currently undergoing renovations, but it's now in the tail-end of the program, and is expected to be completed this year.

Forget the lounge renovations, they're way too expensive. Spend some money on golf carts, a few drivers at the ready, so that when its time for boarding ... lounge guests can be shuttled from lounge to gate in convenience .... rather than those long walks one has to endure ;)

Lol care to split that hair any finer! They're lucky no one was around when I was there at 6am or I would have throttled them for a coffee!

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

Interestingly I find the F lounge nicer, although it was certainly better when they had that river running through the middle (it's been dry for a couple of years). Plus, the bathrooms are bigger in the F lounge area, and were even better than the J ones until they replaced all the Molton Brown with Jurlique. In any case, it certainly isn't an excellent lounge; especially if QF want to cement SIN as their mid-point of one of their flagship routes (i.e. to/from LHR).

There was Molton Brown in the F Lounge showers last weekend :)

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

And two weeks ago....I'm not a big fan of the C shower, poor design IMO.

And I'm not a fan of the F shower - no hot water on my last two visits (Feb and May) - I've taken to using the J showers instead.

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

For a change sounds like some decent "enhancements".

Should schedule a transit through SIN some time next year to see the changes....

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

I was in SIN last night returning from my trip to europe that saw me in SIN on 10 May. They had many people out the front directing people to the new lounge. What I found confusing was the location of the temp F/old J lounge. The door was at the end of a short corridor, with the old F/Temp J lounge a short walk to the right to the right at the start of the corridor - this matched the location of the F lounge that I used on 10 May. There was also a SATS lounge door right at the start of the corridor to the temp F lounge. This confused me because I was pretty sure that was the J lounge entry on 10 May, not that I paid too much attention on the 10th. Having said that the J lounge looked exactly the same as I remember it from 2007.

Has that SATS lounge always been there? Or is that also a change in the set up?

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

Hey everyone.

While the F lounge in SIN is certainly not terrible, the world has moved on. Compared the F lounge in T5 or HKG or even T3 for that matter, the SIN F lounge is very disappointing. To walk in and find a paltry selection food, let alone a lack of seats or computers during peak periods is very disappointing. Don't even get me started on the internet speed or the showers....

It's great to see Qantas working to improve their facilities and I for one am happy that they are listening to their customers and improving the level of service in SIN. I can only hope that they give it the attention and detail that such an important hub deserves.

Flying ex-BNE people might switch travel to QF if there was an F lounge. I have actually flown ex-MEL to check out the lounge but never considered flying ex-BNE for the reason that there is no decent F lounge. Not saying that they want to attract people like me but if I was BNE based I wouldn't try so hard to maintain OWE status given no decent F lounge for int'l and a pretty poor J lounge for DOM flights (based on the size/over crowding).

I wouldnt say that the HKG lounge was much better than SIN for food...

Re: Changes to Qantas Lounges in Singapore

Yes, I did forget about the SATS lounge.

Maybe there's a planned major restructure of all the lounges in that area.

I seriously cannot see this being undertaken without actually increasing the total First/Business lounge area available.

That is very true, I forgot to mention however that I was talking about the CX F lounge, not the QF. I haven't bothered going there for quite a while :)

Well that changes things. It is also not a fair comparison - the Wing and Pier are CX's lounges in their home base. One would expect them to be much superior to a hub lounge. Try comparing the QF HKG/SIN lounges with say the CX lounge at LHR - CX would win that I think. But what about the CX lounge at NRT - no F lounge for a start...

I would wonder how the comparison would go if we have a discussion on Wing/Pier vs SYD/MEL F lounges...
