Changes to QF lounges in Singapore

Sitting, well actually standing, in the "new F lounge" right now, the place is like a zoo. I'm not a travel snob, but I've never seen so many people in an F lounge.

And the Internet is even more cough than usual ...

awilcockson,Is it the whole of the old biz lounge or are sections boarded off.

AwesomeAndy, SYD/mel F much better than Pier (and wing presently shut )

It looks to be all of the old J lounge. Things got better since QF10 left, but the argy-bargy at the food bench reminded me all too much of 6pm at a QP.

That question was supposed to be rhetorical. :)

Back to SIN, I'll see what it's like in a couple of days time, but the fact is, there is currently less total space available across the 2 lounges, but still the same number of pax.

Moving thru Singapore in a few months time on the way to London on QF1

As a Qantas Platinum Member, am I able to use the CX Lounge? It sounds like Qantas Lounge(s) will be a bit of a zoo!

There isn't a stand alone CX lounge in SIN. CX use the Skyview lounge in SIN. Access to this lounge is restricted to OWE//OWS and CX premium flyers flying on CX. An invite is provided when checking in at SIN.

Skyview lounge is not a Oneworld lounge.

I was able to use the CX lounge last year when in transist. They thought it was strange that I wanted to use their lounge but did let me in.

Are you sure? I've never tried that lounge but CX's website page for this lounge links to their usual rules for admittance and the One World lounge finder lists it.

You are supposed to get access when flying Jetstar but they now shut the SIN lounges in the morning meaning you get nothing if you fly on JQ/3K.

We purposely booked flights from SIN to KUL on Jetstar Asia only to be shunned from the Business Lounge because our tickets were not the right code
, very annoyed we was

I guess we're too yobbo in BNE to deserve F service? :(

Mind you, QF isn't alone. With the exception of EK and EY (of which the former has no formal F lounge - just one lounge - and the latter doesn't even operate their own lounge), no carrier servicing BNE I has F service on it (e.g. CX, TG, SQ, MH etc.)

my international data, I now try to go through Sydney to get use of the Flounge

What code were they? Both JQ and 3K are allowed access these days.

You should be able to use the Skyview lounge. It's also a priority pass lounge as well. There's a bit of a walk involved though, since it's located towards the D gates, where virtually all QF/BA flights leave from the C gates. This lounge can get a little crowded too, and has only I think 2 or 3 showers vs the 20 or so in the QF ex-J (now F) lounge. Food is also rather average. Anyway, if you do find yourself in this lounge, and it seems to be crowded, head all the way to the left where there's a few steps of stairs going up. It leads to an enclosed area with seatings and a few computers, where for some unknown reasons, hardly any pax uses.

If the weather is nice, try the Harry's Bar located outdoors, near the Cactus Garden and accessed via where Burger King is. Obviously, you'll have to pay for your own drinks, and there are no boarding announcements, but I find it a generally pleasant to hang around if it's not a hot day.

@Awesom Andy, it was in July 2010 and I believe theay may have been 3K tickets, thanks for the write up though will keep this thread in mind when next flying from SIngapore

There was Molton Brown in the F Lounge showers last weekend :)

They are also in the J lounge showers (in the past 4 days I've used both the F & J lounge showers).

And I'm not a fan of the F shower - no hot water on my last two visits (Feb and May) - I've taken to using the J showers instead.

No hot water in the J lounge showers on Wednesday night, was warm enough for me though. I often have coolish showers here anyway as the rooms can be quite hot.

More importantly, did they move the ice cream? :)

Nope, it's still in the J lounge (the old F).

Boylero, I think the rules changed after July 2010. Prior to that you couldn't use the lounge if flying Jetstar Asia.

Skyview lounge is not a Oneworld lounge.

I used it a few months ago on a QF flight (in Y as a WP). They thought it strange and they told me where the Qantas lounge was. I told them that I would prefer to use the CX lounge as a OWE and they let me and my wife in.

Yeah I've used the Skyview lounge a few times on an AY ticket when the QF F lounge is full and I couldn't find a seat  The showers are better in the Skyview IMHO.

The old F Lounge was not much better than the Skyview. I hope the new F lounge is a vast improvement.

Have to agree re the showers in SIN. Water is cold'ish and the temperature seems to pulse, with unbearably hot periods...
