Changes to QF lounges in Singapore

Just want to provide a quick update that, the landside viewing area right next to the QF lounges have parts of it blocked off for construction. Not sure if it's related, but we'll find out soon enough.

Andy, You mean the vacant area in front of you as you come up the escalators (that as mentioned above has tarmac views), before you turn left to head to both lounges?

It it clear when the new F lounge will be complete? Sorry if its already been stated here, I couldn't find an answer.

I've a F flight on Christmas day this year and would be great if the new F lounge is done

AFAIK, SIN & HKG are scheduled to open end this year......LAX some time next year.

Not quite, although this area is right next to the landside area, separated only by a clear divider. The landside has an area blocked off for constructions.

Note that the "vacant" area airside at the top of the escalators aren't exactly "vacant" anymore, with sofas and computer terminals installed.

Hmmm - I may have misled other AFF's

I was issued with a pass for the lounge at check in and the lounge is used by KLM/Priority Pass etc, so I assumed it was a contracted lounge....

Here's a link to the Skyview lounge review --> Lounge Review: Cathay Pacific Skyview Lounge, Singapore: better than Qantas/BA - Airlines | flights | hotels | travel tech | style | apps - Australian Business Traveller

YQY, l wouldn't agree with ABT that the CX Lounge is better than the BA/QF Lounge. Sure, you have better view, but they SIN J Lounge isn't too shoddy for a lounge. I like it, except it does get crammed at times. The showers in the QF SIN J Lounge are pretty good.

That's why I never used the term 'vacant'. 'Underutilised'[SUP](1)[/SUP] is what I posted.

I'll be in SIN on 04JUN12 and will have access to both lounges. I'll try and take some pics.

Ye of little faith :p....it is a miracle I managed these rather poor efforts of the temp F lounge. I'd forgotten that the old J lounge overlooked the check in area.

Quite easy to miss the signs. I do most of the time but I have visited this lounge so many times it has become second nature.

I would take this lounge over the QF lounges in SIN anyday. Especially when the kids bring their parents back from flights to Europe....

I'm in the temporary F Lounge now. It's busy but by no means full. (I see today's QF1 is delayed some 15-odd hours so that maybe helping.)

I did ask one of the lounge staff what they could tell me about the refurbed F lounge. I got the company line first (refurb will take several months) but pushed on and enquired if the new lounge would be to the same standard of the SYD and MEL F lounges. The answer was yes, although with some hesitancy. Whether that was due to her uncertainty or the fact she didn't really know, I don't know. The agent also added that the lounge would be bigger but in the existing location.

Sadly, the food selection is still pitiful. They've kept the aweful bowl of bolognese and now there's spring rolls to go along with it. On the upside, the Haagen Daz icecream selection has made the move.

QF1 usually doesn't arrive until 22:30, so wouldn't have made a difference in your case. Although, those on this flight might get a little mad to find out that neither of the lounges are opened until they need to re-board the flight...

A couple more points to add. Someone mentioned on a related thread about the newspapers. Dismal. Nothing more recent than Thursday's editions (The Daily Telegraph, The Age, The Australian and The Sydney Morning Herald) and one of those was even Wednesday's edition. There's a sign in the business area saying there is currently no printing facilities. The coffee machine I went to first had no English Breakfast tea bags (I'm just saying, I'm not being especially critical), then no milk, then no teaspoons, all in the space of a couple of minutes.

However, the food offering is better than I originally noted. There are some warmers with hot food placed on the bar area down the immigration end of the lounge.

Ooooh. Good point. Perhaps a national daily paper will lead Monday's edition with a story regarding passengers on QF's flagship route forced to slum it in Changi airport after nightmare delay left them loungeless.

Qp, old F lounge was absolutely chockers prior to QF 78 on Sun night. They had ice cream still there, however, and the food selection was better than the old QP used to have. Can SG use the CX sky view lounge by any chance? I went there on a PP entry and the food was decent, was quiet and overall quite pleasant.

I love the spring roles in the SIN lounge, yumm! and the chicken wings :)

It is a shame the lounge/s aren't open for early morning flights... As commented earlier in this thread.

Does anyone know when the change occurred? J lounge used to be open, then F would open around midday IIRC.

Wow. I didn't know that. Was that a sneaky change and a permanent one?

The oneworld website states the J lounge is open from 6.30am but I've never found it a particularly accurate resource anyway.
