Changes to QF lounges in Singapore

Was that a sneaky change and a permanent one?

Yes to both. It was changed not long ago.

And the skyview lounge is listed as a oneworld lounge and access should be fine. Having said that, I've never used it for any non-CX flights before.

It is a shame the lounge/s aren't open for early morning flights... As commented earlier in this thread.Does anyone know when the change occurred? J lounge used to be open, then F would open around midday IIRC.

This happened when QF 32 SIN-SYD was changed to QF2 and moved to evening departure. Likewise morning SIN-PER flight moved to evening. Although there are 8 QF coded flights on (3K, MU & JL) and several other 3K flights which QP, SG & WP members would have access to in the morning and early afternoon, there are no QF operated flights during this period, so the lounge does not open. By contrast HKG remains open all day, I guess due to the range of BA codeshares, as the first QF or BA metal flight doesn't operate until 7pm.

Wow. I didn't know that. Was that a sneaky change and a permanent one?

The oneworld website states the J lounge is open from 6.30am but I've never found it a particularly accurate resource anyway.

They did away with th 9am flight to Perth earlier this year, and I don't think they have any other QF flights to Australia before about 7pm. And they're not worried about us Jetstar Asia flyers, so they don't bother to open. We recently flew to Taipei on 3K at 0710 and it was closed. So had to buy coffee from Starbucks - not happy!

Any idea when the First lounge will be complete in Singapore. I fly from Lon - Mel in first class January 2nd, should it be open by then?

So with the changes to operating hours, are jetstar flyers with WP, SG or QP entitled to use any lounge in the morning? I would guess not, as jetstar are not one world and the skyview is out of bounds? Priority pass would be next best option

Anyone up for a Flounge run when it is open?

Sent from my iThing.
Why, because iCan.

At the moment it looks like I'll be flying to europe on the 21st of Dec via SIN, Flounge in SYD, onboard lounge on QF1 and new Flounge in SIN (hopefully) then on to T5 Flounge :D

I would think so. The Rainforest by SATS is also an option in Terminal 1.

Just the Changi Airport in general. Find a corner (upstairs between the QF lounges and Skyview lounge - accessible by different escalators to either of those) is actually not a bad area to hang out, almost loungelike sans the free food & bev. Even some parts of (upstairs) in T3 ior quite OK, albeit a short train or travellator ride away.

It would be cool if you upgraded into F for the SIN-LHR sector & then (assuming) that you're flying BA, hop into the CCR in T5:cool:

* Promise to use the multi-function next time....

I was looking at doing a points upgrade but decided that I would use them for a JASA to Europe later in 2013 instead. F is still on the to do list, will get there eventually

The F Lounge @ SIN is chockers right now (SIN 07:30pm). With the following flights landing within a space on two hours - no wonder the lounge and showers are at capacity between 5pm and 8pm. Luckily, I had a relaxed shower at 5pm ish...

BA 11 - 16:20
BA 15 - 16:51
QF 2 : 17:33
QF 10: 18:25
QF 6: 16:25
QF 77: 17:29
QF 3972 (AF 256): 17:58
QF 51: 19:05

Mmm this will make flying F on christmas day a little nicer :)

Wonder if Santa could give me an empty cabin as well.

I was informed by the Lounge staff (y'day) that the Lounge wouldn't be open till 2013. She wouldn't elaborate on a specific month. Apparently the renovations are extensive.

Sounds like the lounge agent was using the oneworld calender. It has an uncanny knack of being off by months (in the wrong direction).

i just walked down to the CX lounge instead when i transited SIN on QF recently. showers available no queues. very peaceful
