Couple detained for breaking into apron at Beijing airport to stop taxiing plane from takeoff after missing flight | Shanghai Daily
The Shanghai Daily's photo didn't show the lady's hand luggage that she was trying to board the aircraft with!!!

HLO!.jpg

The fact that they were able to get past staff and security and onto the tarmac isn't surprising.
This is a toilet I wandered into from the airside concourse in Dalian airport:

A lot of loos in China ignore any semblance of privacy with the placement of windows and doors. This one at ground level also had very easy access to to the apron via the window, should one so desire.

Did they based it on crime statistics...........

They probably based it on the fact that there are "...Indians, Pakistanis and black people..." there.
Chinese generally are somewhat parochial when it comes to foreigners - I will be the last person to be sat beside on the daily shuttle buses, except if my (black) South African friend is on the bus too. Sitting on opposite sides of the aisle to each other usually guarantees us both a shadow in the window seat!
Their attitude does not seem to change when they travel, ignoring the reality that they are now the foreigners.

Flew into PEK last Sun Oct 9 on SQ802 arr ~14:30 - pre immig arr area total zoo - I have never seen it so busy - both for Chinese and Foreigners - I even had >40 people in front of me in VIP/APEC queue - Diplomat line empty but they just would not accept any APEC holders - took forever to get through.

Extra people coming back at the end of the October/National Day "Golden Week" perhaps?

That said, I've been stuck in queues like that a few times at PEK when arriving at about 2-3 pm. Would have hoped that the smartgates for PRChina passport holders would have sped things up a bit but it doesn't seem that way, sadly.

exactly.

the summer of 2013 was particularly bad though... days on end over well into the 40s with an apparent temperature in the low 50s.

I was for two months over that Summer... Even better at the office that the A/C didn't come on until something like 9am. I soon had that changed although as soon as I left I am sure they went back to 9am starts...

I know right, am a little shocked still at the amount of Chinese guys that are going around shirtless and few are pulling them up to their chest and exposing their belly only. Feels more Western/Australian - but then I am seconds from Hongqaio.

Haha - yep I remember that look :) Not sure it actually cools them down that much.

Great thread - can't believe it has taken me so long to find it :)

I have spent a bit of time in China over the past few years and love it. Yes it is crazy but I love that :) I have a lot of material I can probably add to the conversation - I love funny signs / menus :)
