I recently used a few ATMs in Malaysia (MayBank in Langkawi, don't remember in KL) and no fees on any.

Planning on travelling there soon so very useful to know, thanks!

So did some scouting today in BKK.

We know Aeon and Citi are fee free. I found 2 citi locations today.

Citi 1. Interchange 21 building, ground floor, ASOK BTS station. Opposite terminal 21 mall and near the Westin, Sheraton Grande etc. Easy to find, the sign for the branch is giant, the size of a whole floor. Just walk around the branch til you get just inside the building. Looks as if this one may be open out of hours as it is not fully inside the building, but I cannot confirm this.

Citi 2- Level 4 Central World Mall, by the ISETAN entrance. There is a row of banks, it's the last/first one. Only open when the shops are (10am). Near Chitlom BTS, easy walk from SIAM BTS too. These has a skywalk that enters at level 2.

Aeon- Level 4 Central World Mall, as above, about the 4th bank down.

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

Vietnam and Siem rep ATM fees on card? Access to ATM an issue?

Plenty of ATMs in both Vietnam and Cambodia but bank fees on most (and low withdrawal limits in Cambodia). Are some Citibank branches and machines in Vietnam but I don't believe so in Cambodia

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

Plenty of ATM's in Siem Reap and throughout Vietnam.

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

I love this card and use it almost exclusively while overseas (still use a c/card for any "security deposit" type things for hire cars and hotels etc).

When we were in Vegas in January I used it in all the ATMs inside the casino which were stating "There is a $5 fee to use this ATM". I never once got charged that fee - Citibank only charged me (for example) $400US and converted that to AUD at the exchange rate - no Citibank fee and no extra $5 fee (and the withdrawal wasn't upped to $405USD either).

It's an awesome card and I'm going to get my partner to apply for one before our next O/S trip as well, because he paid a lot of FX transaction fees for withdrawals when we were in USA and South Africa earlier this year.

Don't think I have ever used a Citibank ATM for a withdrawal. Oh, maybe once in Joburg in June, but that was simply because in the arrivals hall we had 10 ATMs to choose from so I picked one with a name I knew... I don't search for Citibank ATMs while travelling, as this card is free to use in any ATM.

Hi all just did a check on my Citi plus account and saw that the 400+ i had still in the account has gone after checking on my PC found that there where a few unauthorized transactions happening in mexico basically I was cleaned out, called Citi, was told could take up to 45 days for their investigation, they issued me with a new card, all them unauthorized transactions happened in Mexico while i was back in OZ, I suspect my card got skimmed at an ATM machine in the town of Player DE Carmen, there where heaps of ATM on the main tourist road. So i got skimmed, lesson learned, now when ever I use cards OS I will only use machines in a bank or shopping center. After 7 days Citi have replace my lost funds. I'm happy, thanks Citibank

So, I'm looking to do a cash transfer or cheque payment to a Canadian man, for a VRBO townhouse rental ($500 deposit due now, $2500 rental change due late Feb).

Having read back into last year on this thread, I saw discussion of a similar problem, and the recommendation to attempt to go via paypal, for an approx 2.5% charge (which I assume was correct at the time).

However, I can advise that a paypal invoice issued in Canada for a bill in CAD will be charged at 2.9% plus a 1% surcharge for receiving a payment made from outside Canada/USA. This brings me to a fee of 3.9%. I would be looking to pay with my Citi prestige, so I would be adding ~3.3% forex fee, for a total of 7.2% (ouch). I would earn 3 and 1/3 KF or VFF points on the transaction, and would therefore be paying about 2.15cpp. Not great, but I would be covered by a credit card / paypal chargeback if the accommodation was not available / a fraudulent listing (unlikely because he has long positive feedback on VRBO).

The alternative is to transfer via Citi plus for a $20 charge for each transaction. This would cost about $170 dollars less, but there would be no purchase protection, and I would miss out on ~9000 points. I'm inclined to go via the paypal route.

For me it would come down to the odds that it is fraudulent in my eyes. $170 is a lot for 9k points and quite marginal value. Are you insured via some other avenue? I'd save my $ for a nice meal, but that is just me.

Hi,
Just after clarification....
I received an email today saying my application for a Citibank Plus account has been successful and that a Citibank Visa debit card is in the mail to me. Is the idea that you load up the Visa card with AUD$$$ and just withdraw as needed in the local currency? The paperwork seems to say a 2.5% fee for overseas transactions. Is this accurate or am I misreading the information?

Hi,

By load up the Visa, I assume you mean transfer money into the account. It's a savings account, so it's not like the 28 degrees which is a credit card (not debit) which people load up into a positive balance and then withdraw.

Although if you don't load the CB+ account into a positive balance... you won't be able to withdraw much ;)

Thanks, moa999, the joint and Flashback. Sorry, poor use of language. Yes, by load up imdidmmean make deposit so it is in a positive cash position.

Not sure if it's been mentioned already on this thread but does anyone know the maximum you can withdraw at an ATM each day on this account when overseas?
