Coles gift card offers

I assume it’s targeted but I received an offer on one account for 1000 points on a $100 Visa card or 2000 points on a $200 Visa card to a maximum of 10,000 points if purchased at Kmart. Don’t often get Kmart promos especially relating to gift cards. I’m going to assume that these cards have an activation fee on them making them poor value.
Definitely targetted if you read the terms. It requires you to activate it.

Advice please...in February 2020, I bought a $100 Jetstar Gift Card from my local Coles. Because of Covid, I only tried to redeem it tonight (still within the 3 years validity) but it came up as an error. When I checked the GC balance on the Jetstar website, it shows the GC was never issued / activated and had $0 balance. Fortunately I still have the receipt...how do I get this sorted out? Go back to the Coles I bought it from 2.5 years ago? or ring Coles customer care. Thanks for any advice.

I'd go back to Coles. Take screen shots showing the balance and transaction history.

Great work in keeping the receipt. But just wondering if you checked the balance after purchasing?

No... :(

Keeping the receipts and checking the balance after purchase are two things I'd always recommend.

Did the receipt say 'activated'?
Yes it did! I went back to Coles this am, and they said they couldn't help and I needed to call Coles Customer Care (1800 061 562) :( . The gentleman I spoke to was most helpful and told me these issues do happen from time to time; he asked me to email ([email protected]) a scanned copy of my Coles receipt and front / back of Gift Card which I have now done. Hopefully he said it should be sorted out in my favour but it needs to be investigated....hopefully this post helps others who find themselves in my position. In future I will check balances of all GCs I purchase even if it means scratching the back to reveal the pin BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY KEEP THAT RECEIPT till you fully redeem the GC!!

So I got this email reply from Coles Customer service today:

Dear kpc,

Thank you very much for your understanding and patience while we followed up with our relevant team.

Upon checking, our teams would like to advise you that, the card failed to activate, and you are eligible for a full refund. Please return to the store of purchase with your receipt and gift card and you will receive a refund of $100.

Once again, we appreciate you taking the time contacting us, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We look forward to being of service to you soon.

Kind regards,

I thought that was helpful and quick - 3 business days after I contacted them, Getting my $100 back from my local Coles was a different mattert!! Here is an excerpt of my complain to Coles:

"Thank you for your reply. I took the receipt and gift card back to Coles (store xx_x) today to get the $100 refund. It was initially refused and I escalated it to the store manager, xx_x who first claimed the gift card had expired as it was bought more than 2 years ago, then he changed his mind when I said it had not expired and showed him the email from Coles Customer Service. He then proceeded to tell me that Coles don’t give refunds on gift cards….I insisted he call the Coles Customer contact centre which he did most reluctantly, and then he very begrudgingly refunded the $100 saying “this was not right”. I am absolutely appalled at how this process has gone, to refund a customer his money when he paid for a gift card that did not activate properly. I would like this email to serve as a complaint and escalated to your complaints team. I did not appreciate the tone and attitude of the store manager, xx_x. I await your response

Thank You
kpc"

keep those receipts and check your GC balance that very day you buy them!!

Envious. Did those states miss out last time?
Not sure about TAS but Vic missed out on this last round.

No stock of $250s to be seen in the last couple of days at stores I’ve checked out, I’d like to think they will appear Weds morning but not holding much hope.

Saw at least 50 x $250 in Wollongong today :)

They missed out on a different offer earlier this year.

Vic didn't miss out on this 10% off VISA cards last time.
I & many others stocked up a few.

I didn't think they'd run this offer again so soon if at all. Guess I'll grab a few. silly not too.

This Visa promo was back in Feb, VIC got it back then? Thought VIC was excluded back then. The Coles MC in July was nationwide.
