Hi. Long time reader, first time poster. QFF addict. Business traveller reaping personal benefits from business travel, shopping habits and CC promotions to fund my international vacation travel addiction.

I just applied for the CBA card with 40,000 points - Online approved in 2 minutes.

This amazes me, as so far this calendar year I have applied for NAB plat and got their 40k bonus with no fee. Got the ANZ plat with 50K bonus and no fee (awaiting for ANZ points to be credited), applied this morning for the CBA plat with 40k free,

but last week applied for Jetstar with 50k sign up bonuses and got rejected !

Who knows what giudelines they use. I am a fair income earner with very little personal debt and high savings, and always pay card off by due date - I use cards purely for conveniene of not having to carry cash, and for the points earn.

So interesting that the Jetstar card got declined, but all major banks approve me.

PS my ongoing card (the one I never cancel and use all the time as part of my wealth package) is the WBC Earth Black. So I have that in the wallet also.

I just sign up, do the minimum spend, then leave the card at home and never use it again until its time to pick it up and cancel before the first year is up.

I've never been approved for a card by Macquarie or Bankwest, ever! Meanwhile have had 20+ approvals on all other banks + AMEX etc. Who knows why?

A work colleague was also rejected by JetStar; they (Macquarie?) must have strict guidelines around credit scores (which would have been hit with the applications this year) and less about income / expenses.

I've not been rejected for the 6 cards I have now had in the past 12 months. But I think my time is coming!

Used this offer to get my annual fee refunded which was a good bonus! no point though but better than nothing!

Applied and approved. There was no opportunity to opt into direct awards or provide QFF number during application. I presume ths is done on activation? Anyone been down this track before with CBA?

It is silly how the ratings work, my score is below average most likely because I have applied for 7 cards since last year. However I have sufficient savings and assets and have none of the adverse financial situation that the below average describes. I guess the only thing that can improve the ratings is not applying for cards for a while, but offers like this makes it difficult to resist.

Do you know where I can find this on the commbank site? Or is it only through the link? Where did it come from I guess I was wondering

I called to check if having diamond excludes one from the offer, they said no problems. But was told the offer is not available if switching from other products.
So I applied online, been sitting on conditionally approved since Thursday despite having submitted my latest payslips at the time.

It's hard to resist an offer like this. Will probably end up applying towards the end of the offer period.

I have had the NAB CC for the 40k points for 6 months now. Regarding credit rating, should I cancel the NAB card before or after I apply for the CBA CC?

From my understanding (and I'd like others to confirm / deny) the credit score doesn't take into acount the average duration of line of credit like it does in the USA so it wouldn't help or hinder your credit score. It will however impact the application because you have an existing line of credit that they will see as a risk (and therefore would be benefitial to close beforehand).

Like I said, this is my understanding although would appreciate others provide some insight into how it works because I'm definitely not certain.

Before. I always cancel immediately after I receive the points.

Smashing my head against the wall a bit with this one...

Applied online this morning and approved. Sent an email advising to email them payslips or drop them into a branch. Given I need to ID anyway, took it all to the branch to hurry it up.

Three people had no idea what to do. The one who eventually did couldn't find the application in their system. She spends 15 minutes on the phone with someone who just tells her to "upload it all to my profile". This person then wants pay slips, ID (as expected) plus copies of every bank statement, credit card statement, mortgage statement, precious tax return, proof of interest on savings... List just kept going.

Almost seems like too much work

Does sound difficult. Although not that much different to my poor experiences with Bankwest and St George.
