Europcar came through overnight, re did my quotes, the $$ saving is quite significant for local rentals - :).

Thats good.

My experience has been that the pricing for Europcar Privilege Executive is worse than using the specials available to anyone visiting Europcars site. So much for status. Have also not had a single upgrade (supposedly a benefit), same old unfriendly don't care attitude from staff, no one can actually implement the A-Club Gold benefit (although published as a benefit).

Mine was put in place 5 minutes after getting the upgrade email, hardly no one!

In terms of the discount, my new price: i30

Best price on QF.com - Hertz Yaris $84.20

Thats a good difference.

I got the opposite. I had a 5 day booking using my executive login for Perth and I rebooked using the public special and the price went down by $50. Same with a 3 day Melboune booking that dropped by approx $25.

Accor keep telling me they don't know anything about the Gold upgrade and will have to look into it. I supplied all the details as requested and after almost 2 weeks, nothing. So I am still not getting the benefits of Gold. I am already Silver. Europcar dont reply at all trying to get them to do somthing given they are the ones who have done the deal with Accor.

You have a PM that should at least help with the Accor issue, it worked as advertised for me (get email with details etc).

I am now at 17 business days with Europcar and counting...

Hi markis10, as most of us will probably want to do the same, any chance of spilling the secret? I've looked all over the Europcar and Accor sites and can find no mention except the Europcar promotion of it. I haven't taken it any further, but I am to do that next week. Any assistance to point the right direction, greatly appreciated! :p

Can anyone who got Hilton status upgraded advise the expiry date? Is it 12 months from the status upgrade? Or does it tie up with expiry date of Velocity status?

There doesn't seem to be anything too technical with the HH/Velocity agreement so I'd suggest any renewal of HH status would not tie to your Velocity status.

In fact HH miles awarding seem to be a bit odd. At my last Hilton stay in Cairns, they told me that Hilton didn't have an agreement with Velocity/Virgin Blue/Virgin Australia and I could only nominate QF for the miles earned.

In the HH profile page you can nominate "Virgin Blue Airlines" as a preferred partner (VB has been updated to Virgin Australia in the HH web site "double dip" fixed miles airline list), which tends to suggest there is an oldish agreement in place (at least prior to VB becoming VA), but the curious part is that it does not appear to be a full agreement as VB/VA does not appear in the partner airline list for double dip "variable" miles which seems to suggest you can only nominate "fixed" miles per stay with DJ and similarly, if you wish to convert HH points to Miles, there is no option to do this for Virgin Blue/Virgin Australia (only for Virgin America and Virgin Atlantic).

So I'm thinking that although I've nominated VB as my preferred HH miles partner, if I choose "variable" miles as my double dip option, I'll lose the bonus as I only have DJ and QF as HH partner airlines (neither of which are participating in the "variable miles" double dip option) and if I choose "fixed" miles they'll credit to Virgin Blue/Virgin Australia. At the moment it doesn't bother me so much as I've selected "bonus points" as my double dip option but it does add a degree of confusion to what should be a fairly straight forward process.

HH Diamond upgrade is for 6 months extendable to 12 months with a 4 stay requirement within your first 6 months to achieve it.

I'm not sure about how the 12 months will work but I'd be assuming it will be for the calendar year 2012 expiring 31 Dec.

FWIW, Qantas does not participate in HHonors variable miles either - this has been the case through my 7 years of HHonors membership.

And, like DJ (or is that "[DJ] like QF"?) QFF members get 1000 "fixed miles (points)" per stay rather than the 500 that most other carriers garner.

I would be interested to know this as well.

I like this a lot

I have just submitted my application for Gold. Look forward to use it at Hilton Waikoloa Village and Hilton Hawaiian Village! :p [h=3][/h]

Interesting...just trying to work out when to use my free upgrade. Currently, Hilton Gold til March 2013, courtesy MVP fast track. Assuming (;)) I don't requalifhy DJ Plat, I would drop back to DJ Gold in Sep 2012. If I apply my free upgrade to Hilton Diamond in July / August 12, courtesy of being DJ plat, would I be Hilton Diamond til March 14 (assuming I did the necessary stays)??

There's something wierd here. The length of status does not gel.

The account was opened in April this year, so that would indicate the status is being granted for a year from its anniversary??

The Hilton membership year goes from 1 April to 31 March the following year. So if you become Hilton Diamond (comped) say in July, and you are meant to get the elite status for at least a year, that will take you to July the following year; but to tie into the Hilton membership year, wouldn't your Diamond staus be extended to March the following year, giving you in effect 21 months as Diamond? Make sense??

Seems to be what happened, I am a Hilton newbie - feels weird!

Yeah, but where does the 6 month then 12 month after 4 stays come in?

FWIW, if you earn Diamond by Feb one year, you'll have that status until end of March two years later.

Based on this thread and the How long for complimentary hotel status to come through thread, people are getting their status through 31 Mar 2013. Maybe Hilton's IT system cannot handle many different expiry dates, so they are giving the normal status match expiry. Like others, I was going to wait until just before my current HH Gold status is due to expire 31 Mar 2012 because the complimentary status is supposedly only 6 months or 12 months with 4 stays. I am going to take a chance that I will also get the 31 March 2013 expiry and go ahead and apply for the complimentary status today.
