How can you tell if the account has been created? as waiting for mine and need it urgently.
Thanks in advance

If you go to Online Flight Bookings, Ticket Bookings, Airfares, Promotions - Cathay Pacific International click on Help? in the top right hand corner and then click on the Forgot Membership No. link, fill in the details and if it has been created, it will send your membership number to the email address you provided on your application. You'll then need to reset your PIN and then you should be able to logon with those credentials. It should show you are Gold, if all is ready to go.

Good luck!

If you don't get the CX offer soon I would ring them and chase it up.

Not sure if its too late, but emailed amex asking about this, and recieved the folliwng reply -

Yes, a disappointing response, but sadly typical of Amex - the right hand never knows what the left is doing and you can never rely on getting accurate information! A previous poster (apologies forget who) did mention that the offer was given to those who had used their Amex in areas serviced by Cathay (I think).

Well then I have proof that the left hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing as well - I phoned Amex last week after reading this thread and was emailed the application form which was promptly returned by email and also confirmed by email that it had been forwarded for processing. The card has been used once in an area serviced by Cathay (excluding Aust).

Interesting, perhaps its worth it to hassle them a bit more. Thanks for the info AV8.

As a follow up, just called AMEX, after speaking to their travel team they knew about the promotion, and mentioned that I was eligible and are sending me the forms for applying. Definitely a case of the left hand not knowing the right!

A member of my fam applied for this a few weeks ago... Haven't received the card yet but it looks like the Gold MP membership has been processed.

She's travelling on QF and JQ next week... Just a quick question: Does one need to have the FF number from the airline at which they have status linked to the booking in order to have OW lounge access? Or can she keep her QF number in the booking and just print out the CX site/card if it arrives and show at the QP to gain access?

Also, I think technically they don't have access, but do you think she'll be able to get into the QP on the CX Gold whilst flying Jetstar (which is not actually a one world member)?

Any help much appreciated.

I got my card in the post today. Just wonder if this card and my QF gold will enable me to get Virgin's equivalent, if they still match status. Elsewhere I read that Virgin did do match in it's lounge. Will try that when I go to T2 in Sydney on Monday.

You can most certainly match your QF Gold without issue. The CX Gold should be fine, too.. but QF would be easier I'd say.

Hi Guys,

When does this AMEX plat charge complimentary cx gold offer expire?

Cheers,
K.

I just got my amex charge card too

who do i call for com CX gold?
please
would be great for lounge access

Would CX gold allow use of QF business lounge if travelling domestic? I'm going SYD to CNS tomorrow, economy.

No the J Lounge is excluded from OW rules. Will be able to access the QP though.
Needs a quick clarification, in that's not exactly true as stated. From eligibility and access:
Domestic business lounge:
Oneworld status:
  • Emerald: Next onward flight that day must be on a oneworld operated and marketed flight[SUP]#[/SUP]. One guest allowed
  • Sapphire and Ruby: No access.
As CX Gold = OW Sapphire, No access.
