While I don't know how Qantas operates, I just happen to read up on my own company... Priorities for the company, in order: 1. profitability. 2. existing business. 3... etc, etc.

So if QF has a similar policy, and if they deem MASA's to be bad for profitability, they probably don't quite mind losing clients/business.

Indeed. Can't always keep everyone happy, sometimes you just have to let them go. That's the way it is.

I love the people saying they'll walk because of this. That's great. What did you all do before these were available?

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri

I still find it funny that people think an email to QF will get anything but a standard "fill in the blank" repsonse!
Sometimes the responses I have received have not been "fill in the blank" responses.

Other times I have not had an email response but a telephone call.

Depends on the situation....

we had a raft of other benefits which made the Qfff program more appealing... like any time access, free exit rows, loyalty bonuses on all oneworld airlines not just qf, and an airline that actually flew international routes to where we wanted to go.

MASAs provided some interest in the program for a while.

Red Roo, when are the ASA's coming back online??.

Now all my xSYD revenue bookings are issued by ASA office. Is that normal then?

Red Roo, when are the ASA's coming back online??.

Why would they...?

I think their position is not to discuss these ASA's (MASA's) any more with the hope they slowly become extinct like the dinosaurs... Those that know the secret handshake will always have access to the club, but as time passes they would be hoping that we all forget they existed.

Happy to be proven wrong by Red Roo, but we all know his / her lips are sealed

Red Roo is the QFF official rep here on AFF so should be able to confirm or deny, its just gone on too long.

So Red Roo how about it!.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri

The question really is:

Are the marginal ASA's going to come back on line, and if so, when?

Your question is based on the assumption that a decision has already been made for them to go back on line.

And of course, Red Roo can't comment on something that's not yet been decided. It's not simply a matter of 'confirm or deny'.

I thought the question would be, has the review ended?

That being the case why could Red Roo not at least say its under review and the result should be known ?.

Well time is marching on and I for one am really annoyed at the ridiculous "enhancement" and not one reply yes or no.

Because the information is Commercial in Confidence.

I'm not sure as I was a little less FF savvy then, but fair to say before they were available QFF was more competitive compared to most other programs. Take away ASAs, other than lifetime status (and how long before that is 'enhanced'), there are many other programs were I can now:

- earn status faster
- redeem for 'classic' level awards at lower rates
- redeem for awards with lower taxes/surcharges
- transfer points from credit card spend to when I choose to without being tied to one program
- transfer points from other sources which QFF no longer allows such as SPG.

YMMV, but my engagement with QFF has virtually ceased and I'll still be highly sceptical of any return of ASAs online because they have made their ultimate intentions clear with their current removal.

Couldnt agree more with you. It does not matter what was before mASA it is about the removal of something that was introduced to make QFF more attractive. Now that they are looking like going then QFF is far less attractive and as a consequence I too have changed my flight habbits. :D

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26] was 10Apri

What we are seeing now is QF trying placate us with promises of a "review" but what they are really saying: we will say anything till this blows over and when all the anger has died down we will then yank ASA's permanently after we have done a half coughd review.

To be fair, right at the start of this we were told that the reason that MASAs were removed from the online system was because they were "under review". So the review is not new, nor prompted by any perceived backlash on AFF (though hopefully this will be taken into account).
