So again, if you haven't already booked in some ASA's, book them NOW :)

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I think that Boss may well know more after we asked him to discuss direct with AJ as we never saw any further details of the conversation as asked about enhancements.

Ah so one of those I know more but can't tell anyone scenarios.

Very cool story

I have posted what I feel is appropriate to post, without breaching confidence.

I have tried to be as helpful to AFF members without crossing the line. I fly way too much, to sour my relationship with Qantas.

As it turns out...... Qantas DOES know who I am! (Lindsay, markis10 please help me out here)

I'm not answering any specific questions on the forum. Several AFF members I know personally, and I trust not to pass info on, have called or texted me and they have more information.

The world is not ending.

O/T..... Does anyone remember how you used to be able to do a NAN run? Yeah, they kind of stopped that with some sorcery in the computer. I never understand how this stuff works.

I am but a simple, unemployed transient.

[snip]this thread did in fact cause a headache for them.[/snip]

Serves them right for pissing us off! WE WANT ASA'S!!! WE WANT ASA'S!!! -gets pitch forks and starts an angry mob-

I think it's called tightening the screws:shock:

(My guess - The new engine might enforce some rules that are currently being let through.....)

*Dammit - no-one called Boss Reggie in my phone contacts. I do sometimes wonder what someone getting hold of my contacts would think, given the people I do have numbers for are listed under their handles!

Does this mean no more JASA's? :)

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Hmm.... I reckon QF think that some JASAs are too "cheap" and dont like the way we use them to "retain" status

Who knows, but does QF need to give 1/3 months notice to change something like this ?

I would have thought to remove them altogether - yes. But to change some rules underneath, maybe not!

If all they do is remove ASAs that book into reward fare classes, then I wouldn't think so. After all the T&Cs basically define an any seat award to be a ticket described by Qantas as being an any seat award.

Plenty of manoeuvering room there ;).

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

QF can change the pricing on any reward seat as they see fit, no changes to rules.
Equally QF can implement POS restrictions for certain countries.

Thanks BR, I understand your position but let's just say that what you didn't say speaks louder than what you did say.

For those in the know regarding ticketing, how long can you postpone travel on a fully flex/refundable ticket (FASA) for?
eg. I book a fully refundable and unrestricted fare FASA today for travel in April 2014.
If, closer to the time, I want to push back the travel date and change it so I travel in October 2014, will I be able to do that given October 2014 is over 12 months from the date of ticketing?

Yep exactly my thoughts :)

It was maybe appropriate that Les Miserables was showing on my recent flight.

To the barricades! "Can you hear the people sing, singing the song of angry men (and women) ...."

(Featuring Alan Joyce as Javert .. or is that Monsieur Thénardier :) )

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Re the cost of changing / cancelling a 'contingency' xASA...Are these fees, dated May 2011 still applicable I wonder (found them under T&Cs in xASA award page)?

Cancellation Refund Fee 5,000 Points per passenger

Change Fee

Changes may only be made in accordance with the applicable fare conditions

For Any Seat Award changes: Change and service fees are payable only in money and are disclosed in the applicable Any Seat Award fare conditions.

For Classic Award changes: 3,500 Points per passenger.

Where changes are made to Classic Awards via Qantas Telephone Sales, Service Fees (below) are payable in addition to the Change Fee

I just did a couple of dummy JASAs and the fees for changing / cancelling don't look too onerous - but they vary a bit depending on the type of fare taken. Up to $100 for an itinerary change and can use fare as credit towards a later one would approximate it.

Does that sound right? ie a 'contingent' JASA made now isn't too bad to change / cancel?

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Does anybody agree that it doesn't sound like a smart move from a business perspective ?
I mean, how many people WOULD NOT retain SG or WP if it wasn't for JASAs ?
A fair % I would have thought.

Velocity must be waiting with open arms.

Unless of course they enable points and SCs on Classic Awards.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

The number of people who do ASA/JASAs for a status run would be tiny! Yes a few of us on here know about it and do it, but we are tiny in the scheme of things

not at all... if the OP is incorrect then we are all happy and no need for any comments or apologies.

what possible damage has been been done to any of us? you either book an Asa now or you don't. nothing to lose. nothing else in your life is affected.
