re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I don't think anyone is advocating sanctions - but maybe caution (again). Also we did have attitudes after Red Roo posted along the lines of "It doesn't matter what you say Red Roo we have two sources that say differently". I don't find that helpful.

we have seen that company reps aren't always correct. plenty of discussion on AFF and FT questioned the galleries lounge access which was not properly advised. given the track record is not 100% I don't personally want to cut off all further discussion on a matter. anyone who doesn't like it can of course choose not to continue reading.

I tend to agree with this (not to close the thread)... personally, though I have no proof, I don't think the matter is over. I don't necessarily think the OP and subsequent may have gotten things 100% right, and even words and terms can be filtered/interpreted differently, depending on the context, stress, meaning etc. Anyone involved in contract interpretations and law (though I'm not) would appreciate this. So even responses from Red Roo and the publicly-disclosed portions of conversations with AJ don't necessarily give me 100% comfort that nothing is changing some time soon... When? Well, who knows, but soon I'd imagine given the dates bandied around. I get the impression bossreggie's last carefully-worded post should give further indication of that... and he's the one that spoke with AJ.

Totally concur with Kevrosmiths post.

There is definatley somthing to this, and I thank the OP for sharing with us.
its nice to be able to come and spread the word, no matter how complete the original word is, the OP heard something and shared, to be commended.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Also concur with kevrosmiths comments. Having read bossreggies carefully worded comment, I am definitely with serfty and not canceling non-pointi-to-point JASAs.

Nothing said publicly about ASA here to stay, and even a commitment (which was never actually specifically made) about continuing to book using classic inventory is at all in conflict with an "enhancement" to remove "anomalies" that may be present in the establishment of the price or minimum point requirement for what in the wider scheme (of non SR motivated use) is no doubt a rather small proportion of the available inventory.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

reading BR's suggestion, to add to the rumour mill, how about the "enhancement" to xASAs will be that points required relate to sectors and miles flown rather than start and destination miles?

Yeah, either that, or earn rates will be point-to-point :(

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Unlikely that earn rates would change to point to point rather than by sector, as that would make them different to the paid fares. Changes to burn rates, on the other hand would change from one sort of alignment (currently aligns with some Classic Award point to point pricing) to be consistent with approach to redeeming a Classic Multi-city, which prices the points sector by sector.

just doing some digging around on ASAs... seems international are still roughly same-sme in terms of pricing... but I noticed domestic seems to have increased? I was getting a JASA MEL-SYD for 16K plus around $80 in fees and charges, now that is $101 for the fees and charges. Tried multiple dates and same result... so 20% increase in cost??

JASA PER - BNE was 49000 FFP OW but is now 58000 FFP for the direct flight. Similar increases on indirect flights via SYD etc.

This is an increase of about $80.00 when using the minimum points + pay option.

Yeah I've noticed the same thing- instead of the 25k points for a JASA its now 27K for JASA. Similar with MEL-SYD-ASP used to be 39K now 44k :(

who was it said "where there's smoke..."

Although I was one of the few suggesting this thread be closed to stop the flaming of the OP, I can now see that this was in error and like most Qantas rumors, there usually some "truth" with them.... Sure ASA's are not being removed (well not yet anyway) but they have been "enhanced" looking at the posts today...

Luckily QF81 & QF82 redemption's have not increased

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

QF do this on a regular basis, I think this is the seventh raise, the original TSV DRW was 30000k points when JASAs first came in.

Appreciate that one shintaro10x has apologised :) Takes a big effort to do that on a forum (no seriously I mean that) Well done!!

Yes domestic does seem to have been "enhanced" but at the same time Virgin have a 15% off sale on reward seats... Interesting........ ;)

If taxes go up, the JASA price will go up, there is some linkage between $s and pts.

But taxes, levies and airline fees have not gone up as significantly ...

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I'm not too concerned .. the price continues to go up.
The SYD-BNE-TSV JASA last April was 48000 points + $250. This week, it was 48000 points + $272.
Now it's 48000 points + $341 - yes, a bigger increase, but still it's a very cheap way to get 400SCs if you're on double SC offer so I don't really mind.

And that's what they want to hear... Keep cranking it up while everybody just accepts it....

Some fantastic VA value out there today...

Indeed there is. Current QF bookings get me back to WP, I was going to drop down to VA gold. But it seems the right time to unlock some 15% value. Well done QF.
