re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Revised date for the removal of ASAs is now set for 18th of May which is when the new flight search engine is meant to go active on the QF website. QF took note of this thread and delayed the removal which was set for 10 April. Red Roo would you like to "repudiate" this new date of 18th May?

So... 10th to 12th of April not to 18th of May?....

Where did you get this info from?

A change of date like that would be because there were issues in the engine that needed rectification before it went live.

I still doubt ASAs will go, although the underlying calculations, access to fare buckets etc may change.....

I have been in a similar situation, knowing something that I felt may have been of interest to fellow AFF members. This has happened a few times. Once was changes to Auckland hotels. I posted about it and someone replied as a rep of SPG totally repudiating what I had posted.

As it turns out, I was correct about all 3 things I posted, however the timing was a little longer than I first suggested. I got this directly from the Accor Asia Pacific Manager when he took us out for dinner. I asked if I could tell others and he said it was OK.

Another was the change in Jet* to business class and the new bundles. I overheard this in the CL so I knew it was fact and it may have influenced people booking flights. As I had overheard this, I was in 2 minds about what to do. I spoke with a mod and even toyed with the idea of having them post it as an anonymous source. However we decided that because of where I had heard it, and from whom, no post should be made.

I'm in the same situation here.

Without a source this would be pure speculation and the original speculation started had better credibility with origins from a call center.... and we all know how that ended.

I may be skeptical, but would appreciate the detail for why these speculations start (and I'm sure others would too) to make a better judgement about the new info.

ISTR that it has been refuted by AJ and RedRoo earlier in this thread that ASAs are not going anywhere. I think it's more of a question of are ASAs going to be enhance and if so, when?

I highly doubt Qantas changed anything because of THIS thread.

Either way thanks for the heads up, it may or may not happen, but thanks anyways!

I would go with this. I don't think ASAs themselves will go, but there may be changes of some sort that make them less beneficial. I just wish I knew what they were!

ASA have already been increased in price by 5000 points on my common routes. Doubt they be discontinued, maybe another price increase.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Is that suggesting you know more than what you have stated to date in this thread?

I think that Boss may well know more after we asked him to discuss direct with AJ as we never saw any further details of the conversation as asked about enhancements.

Ah so one of those I know more but can't tell anyone scenarios.

Very cool story

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Can confirm I have been informed 18 May as well as the removal of the ASAs. Source: premium desk supervisor. res agents have been trained on new fare product which clearly states removal of ASAs. The date was in fact 10 April but glitches with going live in the new search engine meant they have delayed plus this thread did in fact cause a headache for them. all res agents were issued a strict memo not to divulge revealing ASA was going. Features of the new search engine will be ability to log on and finalise booking after having researched/selected flights/
