Agreed I mean who hasn't been given a bum steer by people in life and believed it... Hardly their fault.
Still ... where there is smoke ... and seen from several sources ... there is normally something burning ...

I know! I voted for Rudd (ok maybe the bum steer was from the Labor Party...)

For all we know the date has simply been pushed back a few days/weeks............

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

The problem I have with the OP is that things are said with some force, people then switch to the doomsayers mode and start complaining about QF and expecting the world is ending. This is even after the claims get refuted through official channels.

it is prudent to digest all information available and monitor, only a fool would not listen to all available information and manage the risk in their situation...

The words I told you so don't mean much, forewarned is forearmed and I applaud the open discussion of topical information such as this.... For me it is better to know that there is a possibility that something "might" happen, rather than stumble in the dark waiting for said announcements.

It is up to the member if they read said information, if they believe it to be rubbish then this can be easily be conveyed in one post, there is no need to bash the op throughout the thread.

my 2c worth anyway

Usually pax when they wake up and find they've been enhanced ;) .

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I would suggest this.

If your intended ASA, JASA or FASA is point to point, you probably don't need to do anything, or panic, about "enhancements".

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Just on the website issue (rather than the broader ASA discussion), there is now a countdown clock in the website media area talking about "a new look" arriving at 10.30am on the 16th April.

This is the unifom.

Interesting point. Some of the connections make for the best value.

I agree with oz_mark. The concern for most people in this thread is that the JASAs that are of the most value in terms of earning/retaining status are not point to point...

bossreggie, I'll assume this comment is based on / you are alluding to some of the details in your conversation with AJ about xASAs. It's a shame you may not be able to provide further clarification on your comment and why it is only probably.

For those xASAs that are not point to point, it sounds possible that there is something we should do, or panic - to use your phrase -, about "enhancements".

Exactly this. The thread title (before the repudiation came through) states the removal of ASAs as a fact. And even after both Red Roo and Alan Joyce made it clear it was not going to happen, still the scaremongers persisted.

It would seem that the change that was in the wind - which was indeed announced on the date originally mentioned in this thread, 8 April - was the reduction in points required for Classic Awards on JQ.

I seriously doubt the reduction of points for Jetstar redemeptions has any real relationship with the premis of this thread.

I re-iterate - there was more than the one source for this.

Indeed, both red roo (& AJ) have stated xASA's will remain. But there is no repudiation that they won't be changed somehow.

It is possible that nothing will happen, and I'd be happy for that to be.

However, I have this concern that if there is indeed any substance to these rumors - even just in relation to Change, then while xASA's would remain, the cost points/$$$ may well be 'enhanced'.

As posted, I'm not cancelling any of my strategic bookings quite yet ...

with all due respect... the official channel has not always been privy to the most up to date information (galleries lounge being resolved) and I didn't see any written statement from AJ.

the 8 April changes and ASAs don't appear to be related. we have no idea if any policy was changed following any potential leak.

so it remains that it is time this should be dropped. I don't know what sanction you want against the two people who reported the potential changes? are you suggesting they be asked to leave AFF? I'm confused.

John, I think we all now understand your position on this issue, and while I'm not offended by your posts, nor am I going to suggest that you stop posting in such a manner, I can not really see how much more debate on your concerns with the credibility of the source, is going to increase the wealth of information (or non information) included in this thread.

Can I suggest we all just wait and see for the next development and then discuss...? For the moment, a pause and reflection might be what's required here...

Some of you seem almost disappointed that ASAs haven't gone away!

My only point is caution - some people use these forums effectively and as part of the research package for their decision making process. Others see a thread and book something trusting that information to be gospel. Others use this forum to bash QF and decry all that they do - I personally get tired of people saying things like "oh aren't QF terrible they are enhancing ASAs" when in fact no concrete information is available.

I don't think anyone is advocating sanctions - but maybe caution (again). Also we did have attitudes after Red Roo posted along the lines of "It doesn't matter what you say Red Roo we have two sources that say differently". I don't find that helpful.
