Ok

Have spoken to a second person and what is happening is that you will search for the destination and it will display the cash price. You can then click another button and on display will be the Classic Award rate and the ASA rate.

You can earn SC on the ASA but not Classic.

You can use points and reduce the amount by a cash component as per current ASA.

The operator went to great pains to explain that ASA's are NOT going youm will just be searching in a different manner.

Again if you want just reward seats then you click a button so that it searches only for rewards seats.

I asked if the prices of ASA or Classics were increasing and a very strong NO was the reply.

So lets see what happens I am beginning to think that this may well be a good thing :D

Pricing is the key question then given that points plus pay bookings are more expensive again over ASA.

All I ask is that come tomorrow, if ASAs have not been removed, could this thread pleased be locked so we don't have to go through this all a fourth time?

Thanks for the perseverance and reporting back but I don't think a call centre person (even premium) can be very authoritative. We'll just have to wait and see, but its apparently been called an 'enhancement', so I'm not optimistic.

I look forward to some pretty solid mea culpas from those who were strident critics of the OP and even the renewal late today ... keeping on denying an issue is on foot.

I also look forward to any number of hours on the call centre doing my research. I'm always pretty open about my departure port (absolutely true), so we'll have go through all those options.

If you don't like the thread, then don't look!! Sheesh.

The "Unsubscribe from this Thread" option under the "Thread Tools" menu at top is available to anyone who wishes to do so... just saying. I'm weary of people making comments like these. From my perspective, the info is useful, regardless of where the dart falls on the board. It doesn't have to hit the bulls-eye to count as a throw.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

You will be fine, methinks there will be quite a few points burnt tonight!

Well I've just booked my JASA for next year, purely because of this speculation. I got burnt with the J* changes a few years ago when they enhanced their Star Class and the price increased dramatically.

Got a Nice AKL-LAX return for 168k points plus NZ$800 approx.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Based on the conversation I have had this afternoon with the premium desk then you will NOT need to make reward bookings via the call centre you WILL be able to do this online. The only time you may need to do this via the call centre is where one part of the fare for example is paid and the other ie return is a classic or ASA.

Aaaaahhhh ... surely one of Alan's favourite customers. QF put up the fees & costs, decrease the convenience and its no problem!

My point was the thread started as the end of the world and potentially now is a "have to make a call to make a booking". For the record I have booked about one ASA and the remainder of awards have been releases due to status.

I can still see Red Roo in the Thread Information section. Besides, you don't have to be a member to view the thread...

Not appearing whilst I am looking (I can see Rooflyer) - not implying that whilst I am on Red Roo isn't of course ;)

Can I also suggest that those of you with access to the Plat line may want to call and verify what I have posted so that perhaps we can bring some calm back to the forum :D

A triple-20 wouldn't be bad though...

I dislike the phone at the best of times, so have no desire to quiz someone on it.

Aw, c'mon. Yes, they haven't been abolished, but having to call a call centre, and pay for the privilege ? The time to wait to for the call to be answered while being reminded that "your call is valuable to us" (like, $30 valuable), the time while they search around if what you want isn't available for some reason rather than the convenience of doing it yourself? Did you write down all those options? What was the first one again?

Hope the call centres are toll free and open 24/7, so I can call when I'm overseas??

Or even better, the P1 line.

I was talking with An***a in the Premium Desk this afternoon and they were unaware of any changes, though admitted they had only just started their shift and may not have caught up with the paper work. I couldn't work out if there was a hint of uncertainty in their voice as to what they really knew but wouldn't admit to, so I have to take their replies on face value.

And if they are, you'll be wanting the [Repudiated by Red Roo] deleted from the thread title then?

Just sayin'...

Agreed, as I've said before, some speculation is not a bad thing, but this has taken a life of it's own, and whilst the average AFFer can ignore such threads, how do the people who blew all their points on the 9th of April feel right now if they couldn't really afford the points (and thus took a lower class than they otherwise wanted) but where worried that ASA's where about to be 'enhanced'.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Is this a record for an open thread ?

With QF track record of enhancements, any E would be more likely a backward step: time on the phone, limited options, booking fee, higher points costs....
