Essentially offering points+pay as the first port of call, then if you want a classic you have to go through a second process...

thanks for the information, i am sure more will become clear in the coming hours....

According the the premium line the engine will search and show the cost in Terms of Dollars with a second cost in terms of points as in rewards seats also beimng displayed.

You can search purely for points only options by clicking the search for reward seats only

Sorry to jump in on this so late if I make 2 JASA bookings tonight before the change for July and one for August then no issues ? SC's and points still earnt ? Both bookings would be fully refundable according to the T&C's if i want to cancel later

You will be fine, methinks there will be quite a few points burnt tonight!

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Ansett's post begs the obvious question - will those flights earn SCs?

I forgot to get clarification on that point Damn :D

Hopefully now the cat is out the bag Red Roo will confirm final details

That's ok - thanks for going to the trouble of getting that much info (along with the other callers who shared snippets too).

As someone searching for 4 or sometimes 5 tickets.....no big deal.

Tough luck for the solo or couple only traveler.

My understanding is that the information being shared with media at 4PM can not be shared until tomorrow morning - as such I do not expect a clarification by Red Roo.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

This is concerning, I would have thought. Surely there's no need for a briefing on a change as simple as moving classic ASA bookings to phone only. Is there something else happening that we've missed?

They need to stage manage something. Not that we're likely to find out what that is till tomorrow (given Simongr alluding to an embargo).

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

And my observations in a limited selection of routes has been that x = $100-$200 between both current classic and old ASA, and new ASA. By comparison trying to crawl in another $50 via phone bookings seems strange given the potential costs.

The point about engaged QFF members being a small number also makes delays due to this thread implausible.

Indeed, delays will almost certainly be related to the project, not us... We are not that important :o :o

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

There's a very slim chance that QF are actually enhancing (in the standard definition of the term) all awards so that they all earn SCs ala Virgin. But if that's the case I doubt they'll be especially cheap & that'll probably lead to arguments about devaluing status for all those EDR points collectors getting status...

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

If this turns out to be true, us lucky ones who had the double status offer and selecting JASA to do it have done real well.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I am speaking now with the premium desk and there is a change coming effective from tomorrow

There will be no more ASA or Classic Awards

1) There will be only one button which will be your search where you will be given the option of either a Paid fare or how many points will be required

2) You can click on a secondary box which will search for award flights only

If you want a combined paid come reward flight then you will need to call the centre

BUT for normal fares or the points option you do NOT need to cal them

No more classic awards? Have I understood this correctly? No more Perth to Melbourne for 18k in economy? No more Melbourne to Sydney for 8k?

For Virgin, that is only a promotion, and a soon to be ending one at that.

You will notice that Red Roo has dropped off the thread - just at the time media are being briefed...

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

it's the additional charge, per pax.

the statement from red roo was very clear that they are looking for ways to improve the customer experience. and that ASAs are here to stay.

no one can say that an additional charge for the call centre is an improvement to our experience. which leads me to believe that this simply can't be true because the loss of credibility would be too great. it might be available via the call centre but with fee waived.

Loss of credibility has never been a problem for QF in the past.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Ok

Have spoken to a second person and what is happening is that you will search for the destination and it will display the cash price. You can then click another button and on display will be the Classic Award rate and the ASA rate.

You can earn SC on the ASA but not Classic.

You can use points and reduce the amount by a cash component as per current ASA.

The operator went to great pains to explain that ASA's are NOT going youm will just be searching in a different manner.

Again if you want just reward seats then you click a button so that it searches only for rewards seats.

I asked if the prices of ASA or Classics were increasing and a very strong NO was the reply.

So lets see what happens I am beginning to think that this may well be a good thing :D

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I guess for me an extra 3000 points on a 250,000 award aren't a big deal and a long way away from the original thread title "QF are removing ASAs".

Aaaaahhhh ... surely one of Alan's favourite customers. QF put up the fees & costs, decrease the convenience and its no problem!

I forgot to get clarification on that point Damn :D

I think Red Roo would (or should) be curled up in a ball, hiding.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Errr no : The policy only applies to bookings made at qantas.com.

Yeah you're right if the phone agent stuffs it up qantas needs to fix it at any time.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I like doing things myself online and if I am forced to sit on the phone and go through every option until I find one that suits me I'd probably give up.
If this is really for the worse I can see myself doing more paid bookings on Oneworld partners rather than ASA's, and letting my points liability with QF rise...sad...

I can still see Red Roo in the Thread Information section. Besides, you don't have to be a member to view the thread...
