This thread is long enough and covering lots of content as it stands. No need to add to the clutter in this thread. The Playground is for posting clutter. Please stick to the topic.

Fair enough...is there a thread on the new booking engine issues generally? If not, should there be?

The "clutter" was off-topic posts that have been removed from this thread. Feel free to post content that is on-topic for the thread title.

Ahhh...as it directly followed mine, I thought you were referring to moi. My bad. Nonetheless, it appears there's a specific thread so I'll head on over to that one to vent my general disdain a the "enhanced" booking engine.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

is there a section specifically talking about ASAs in low fare buckets?

I have read a specific mention of ASA being able to book award fare classes but can't find it again. So either already removed by stealth or would need to be removed.

Then there is the definition of ASA in the terms. It says an ASA must be called an ASA by qantas. Flowing through the booking process from a cash booking they give you the option to use "point plus pay". By definition this is not an ASA. So the definition of ASA has to change. Effectively they have removed ASA in the booking process by lack of specifically calling them ASA and that would suggest the complete removal of clause 15.

From the QF email - mine arrived on 26 June:
Please note that from 26 June 2013 Any Seat Award bookings made in reservation classes X, Z, U or P cannot be made online at qantas.com. To make an Any Seat Award booking in these classes please call 1300 366 587 (dial in +61 2 8222 2430 from outside Australia) between the hours of 0900 and 1700 AEST on Mondays to Fridays.

I think the fact that any seat awards in the relevant classes is written into the earnings table is a bit of an implication it's possible.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

From the QF email - mine arrived on 26 June:

Just for clarity, the statement you made note of is not in the body of the email; it is necessary to follow the Any Seat Awards link.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Seems like QF are receiving a large number of emails based on a response to some feedback that I have just submitted.

I WONDER WHY :D lol

Your feedback or question has been received and will be assigned to a Customer Service Representative. We are experiencing a high volume of emails, but will endeavour to respond to your e-mail as quickly as possible.

Perhaps all the feedback and emails we are sending in relation to this is too much for them to handle

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

From the QF email - mine arrived on 26 June:

There was also another reference either in the T&Cs or as a table footnote that said something like "including classic awards" in relation to buying "any seat". I can't find it again, but I'm also not looking very hard as I'm on holiday with the family.

There used to be words to the effect:

On this page Frequent Flyer - Using Points - Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards:

You cannot combine a Qantas & Partner Classic Award with a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award in the same booking but seats available on Qantas as Classic Awards with a QF flight number may be redeemed as a Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Award.

But they are gone now...

Which all points to qantas changing the term and conditions by stealth, instead of being up front. So no 3 month notice. And they wonder why some people get the Tom cough with them.

Re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

if that has been changed we need to keep track of it. at the moment no official notice has been given to the change, and the cheap ASAs are still available by phone. this will require a three month notice period by the look of it... and a formal one.

I wouldn't hold out much hope on the reference in the earning tables either. We all know how the stealth of the BA earn changes went into the terms and conditions, including a frankly fraudulent effective date which remained unchanged even though the terms and conditions actually changed.

I would suggest that this forum is a reflection of their most engaged customers, and we are the ones they are p!ssing off the most.

Based on previous performance, it appears the terms of the program will change at any time to QF's advantage and to the detriment of the member, regardless of their notice clauses.

So who will call the ACCC?

IMHO start accruing points in the reward program of the Credit Card Company instead of direct sweep to QFF. I have ditched my ANZ Qantas linked card, my Amex Qantas Ultimate and am looking at closing my Woolworths EDR card. I put over 875,000 points through my cards last 12 months and I have now taken out a Citibank Card and a straight Amex card with Amex Rewards.

Who is going to lose...? not me.. I will pick and choose how I now spend the points through thei Credit Card companies' more varied choice of airlines once I burn the 1.2 million points I still have in QFF

Good whilst it lasted but nothing in life stays the same so move on and let them weep in 18 months to 2 years. It is not only the seats but the loss of point sales that will impact on them. Pity really because I still think they are one of the best airlines around.

Thinking the same to have choice who to use them with, pity I dumped my Amex Plat Direct, was going to apply hoping to get the free 80K points currently on offer with a new Amex Plat. but points only available if not had one with them in the past mmm.
