serfty... I acknowledge your point. my issue about the 32 likes was only to show what most people took from red roo's statement. there wouldn't be 32 likes if it anyone thought he was alluding to an enhancement.

red roo would also have picked that up (he's is pr). so his silence potentially indicates confirmation of what the 32 likees thought.

Actually that only picks up on what you thought the likes mean. I liked the post for what it said, and for actually providing a reply. As my subsequent posts show I am also wary of what wasn't said. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate AFF and the thread receiving an official answer/position.

Going off topic a like from me can mean a range of things. Just off the top of my head:

1) I agree
2) that's funny
3) I understand
4) thanks of the reply/answer
5) sensible
6) I've read your post

Plus probably another dozen thugs I can't remember.

noted, but you wouldn't say thanks for the reply if it was wrong....

Why not?

What makes an Any Seat award at Classic rates so special?

Personally I would love to receive SCs and QFF points on my Oneworld award bookings.

SC on a classic award on a qantas flight as recognition of support to the airline is defendable. Points are not, IMO.

I think I also said it was to acknowledge the official input which can be a thanks given regardless of content. However, you seem to be missing my point about what the post does not say. As I said my concern is what the post does not say. The post could very well be correct in what it does say, while still triggering my concerns when/if change happens.

In other words, you are reading too much into my like of that post. Which leaves you with 31 likes to fit into your interpretation.

We can. Bossreggie asked the question about ASA's in the 4WD between drinks and dinner. As I was sitting next to AJ in the 4WD, I can unequivocally confirm that he said NO! Consider it squashed - he said that a number of interesting rumours came out of CSA briefings that he does

Well you can't top that.

Nice work

I would say that we could consider the matter DEAD and Buried ........ Hopefully :D

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I'm quite sure that there will be some posters who will remain adamant that their boyfriend's neighbour's cousin's flatmate, who works one casual shift per week at the QF Call Centre, knows for sure that ASAs are being axed; it's just that Alan Joyce isn't high enough up on the chain to know about this top secret plan to irritate QF customers.

Some people really get a thrill out of scaring others with baseless rumours. I'm sure psychatrists have a word for it ..................

Well. I asked Alan Joyce directly twice last night. Once whilst we were in the car and the 2nd time when he, Tim Clark and myself were having a drink later in the evening.

I assure you. He was 100% that there was no plan to end ASA's.

We shook on it!! ;)

Thanks Bossreggie we are all confident that it would not end however the concern is that there are changes coming that may be positive or negative. Did Alan confirm that no changes were planned to be introduced on or around the 10th April?

It wouldn't be the first time Joyce has said one thing that has turned out to be inaccurate. My case in point is his reaffirmation at the joint EK/QF launch last September that Qantas was "absolutely" committed to refurbishing the lounges in Singapore.

I'd also add that a CEO might not know/be aware/care of all the finer details of changes to a part of the FF program, plus added to that given that Qantas is a listed company.............

The best advice was to book anything that you MIGHT need in the next week or so, just-in-case.

I have recently placed quite a few ASA bookings, just-in-case, and as mentioned they can be cancelled easily :)

If ASA's were to end, well for me it would be ...

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Thanks be to our 'people on the spot'. But I wish the question that was asked was: "Does Qantas have any plans to enhance the ASAs?" :)

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

*grabs some fuel....*

Just because ASA are not going doesn't mean the value of them won't be drastically changed...

What's with this continued attack on people? I don't even know the person that made the comment. I simply called the call centre and was told by the person on the other end of the phone, who represents Qantas, that ASAs are going. Has been more than one person who has done this. Just because another person refuted it doesn't make what we've said a "baseless rumour". Maybe a rumour, but this thread was pretty clear about that in the first place.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Sorry guys. I only asked the question I was asked to ask. I had over an hour with Alan so had plenty of time to ask other questions.

I am happy to get clarification, but don't really want to use my access to "grill" him with 20 questions.

Is the question people want answered....... Are there any changes to ASA's?

Yes thats all that is we want to know. Will ASA be changing and when will it be announced. I guess any details of ant changes would not be released here but would be good to get an idea if changes are afoot

we've had two reports from qf front line staff (call centre) saying ASAs are going from 10 April. we've had two qf 'official' responses that ASAs are not going.

on the latter, some people think this still leave room open for there to be changes to ASAs. some (me) believe that a statement 'ASAs are here to stay' implied status quo.

does it really matter? probably not. they either will or won't change come 10 April. and people have the option to book now if they want.

I guess for me the matter is one of principle... if we are told they are not going but that turns out to be a half-truth, I would rather have dispensed with the 'spin'. if there is no change then no issue.

worth a question to AJ? probably not... what will be will be I suppose. and deal with the matter of principle come 10 April if there is one.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Considering many call centre staff have no idea what an ASA is, quite possibly they got it wrong?

Just saying....
