re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

why would it be more expensive?

Because it is enhancement season.

incidentally I have lobbied the good people at the Oxford Dictionary to amend their entry of enhancement to the follows;

Definition of enhancement
[h=3]noun[/h]
  • an increase or improvement in quality, value, or extent:this programme of enhancements will improve the daily experience of passengers
  • a notable exception to the above is in relation to Qantas, who utilise the word as a reference for its own benefit, as opposed to passengers
  • Refer to the vernacular "To Joyce it up", "Oh boy that's really Joyced", "Get your fingers out of my Joyce" and "Orange Cancer"

[mass noun]:

  • the enhancement of civic amenities

What a classic, well done...good stuff, not far from truth actually though

I wonder if Qantas, with input from Red Roo, will ever dare to use the term enhancement again :)

thanks for the replies - the post was not meant to cause any upset simply what I heard from my friend at QF who is always very reliable. Anyway let's wait and see. last post on this forum. gets a bit too nasty.

It's a tough crowd

The word 'enhancement' has exactly the same meaning within the Air Canada FF community as it has here :-)

You must have it wrong. Surely F pax would only have to push one pedal

Actually you may be right on the one pedal thing. Also I'm sorry ... didn't mean to seem like I was on the attack.

As it does with the Delta community. Qantas is in no way unique here...

10 April is when the "enhancements" come into effect.

RedRoo might need to revise his statement concerning this issue after this date.

thanks for the heads-up!

however - RR would lose all credibility if in fact this is the case :(

Not really. There is a pretty big hole in the statement that Red Roo made here. Heaps of people have interpreted that statement in a certain way, but there other possible interpretations.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

We are always looking at ways to improve the member experience. As recently as 2 weeks ago we hosted many of the AFF members at Rockpool where we got some great ideas. We can confirm that Any Seat Awards are here to stay and many members enjoy the flexibility of being able to purchase any fare using points.
When there is any news we will do our best to make sure that AFF are among the first to know.

my bolding of RR's words - looks pretty certain to me - ASAs are here to stay... so will be interesting to see what happens come 10 April.

No mention of whether the cheap Any Seat Awards are likely to remain.

JohnK covered it - no mention of pricing remaining the same or otherwise.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

I emailed Lesley when the issue first came up and whilst I didnt, get a personal direct response from Lesley I did get a phone call from QF confirming that they WOULD NOT be changing ASA. It was and will remain a very important part of the programme.

I would suggest just relax chill out and see what eventuates.

Nothing to stop booking some refundable FASA/JASAs on the routes you want and then changing the date or getting them refunded later on ... of course that is if you have the points and cash to be "held" in such an "investment" :o

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Mrscove asked me if I wanted to do a years bookings in the way of JASAs domestically as a just in case scenario. Out of Perth I only have one JASA to get to BNE,MEL and ADL and two to SYD. If I forward book a lot more a double SC offer will turn up !

I have no need to book Any Seat awards as the cash for airfares is at it's lowest for a long time.

I only commented on what was missing from Redroo's statement.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Ok well I am not sure what is happening but spoke again to the QF representative that rang me back on behalf of lesley about ASA and when I disclosed the post about 10th April he was very errrrrr shall we say uncomfortable when I asked if changes were coming to ASA rather than removing. The response was to repeat on numerous occasions that any announcements would be done via the normal QF emails to members. He did not refute that changers where happening.

I asked directly if changes were happening and he again refered back to emails would be sent to members.

When asked if the opportunity to obtain ASA at Classic rates was going to be changed he would not deny or confirm again referncing emails to customers about changes.

i refered to the 10th April date and he was not able to say anything to confirm or deny any announcement on that date about changes

Surely QF would be quick to deny if changes are not happening. Sadly i am now thinking that changes are about to happen wether they be positive or Not I have no idea.

Should I now use all my points on ASA before that date was met with the comment that that was my decison and he could not recomend as to yes or now.

Not confident.

Hi mel thank you for your kind words :D I am not worried that they will not be around more is the concern that they are about to be enhanced. Which we all know is not good. No one has come out and said no changes are about to happen. Today was about it will be advised by email to all who are registered. How simple would it have been to say no changes are going to be announced on the 10th April its all rumor. All that was relayed was changes will be announced by email if and when it happens.

Me thinks changes are happening. Are they good or bad I dont know
