Apologies Ansett ..... I just assumed he hadn't given consent ..... I wouldn't have!

EH

Hi Emily I agree with your post in that it was inappropriate to quote some one elses details and it seems the Mods agreed as it has been removed. My reference was to a second post by the poster in relation to it being OK for Neil to do it on his Tweet or what ever it was, which has since been removed too :D

Just to clarify, I removed the posts myself for fear of being flamed (which has become a regular occurrence here recently).

As far as I'm concerned, if he is publishing it on various social media sites it is fair game to be reproduced here or anywhere else. As silly as posting a picture of one's CC details or bank account.

Indeed a matter of public record by his choice. Still no need to compound his mistake. Perhaps?

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Hypothetical question for those who may know more than I.

Lets just say that QF give a media release/briefing at 4pm on one day with an embargo to not realease the information until the next morning.
The information given has potentially significant changes which impact the value of Frequent flyer points or charges that are to be levied in the future.

The media then use that privileged information for personal gain by instruction to friends/family members co workers (who then on spread the information) and take advantage prior to the devaluing/extra charges etc.

Does Joe punter have a matter of recourse that XYZ got the info first had an opportunity to gain better value/pay less than he does?

Hypothetical of course. ;)

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

You start an obviously inflammatory thread, and then get surprised that people backlash against you when your predictions didn't come true?

There is never any justification for some of the behavior on this site, and so what if someone's prediction is not borne out? This was clearly an informed poster who's information simply became out of date. There is way too much flaming on this site sometimes.

This site is for people to exchange information - there are plenty of posts here that are way more useless, but we don't flame.

we need to treat people online the same way we would if we were sitting across the table from them.

Enough said - back to my cave....

Good luck with that quest. :) Maybe their accounts get frozen?

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

It's a bit like any form of potential insider trading and is dependent on the ethics of the individual involved. Also joe public has no recourse only QF.

Anytime QF mention the word "enhancement" this is what I think

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

QF has finalised their decision on the ASA situation. From tomorrow 26th June when the new search engine is fully functional ASAs that contain the same inventory as classic awards being P, U, Z, X will NOT be available on Qantas.com - you will still be able to book these as ASAs but only through the call centre - you need to specify. QF did in fact want to remove the ASA completely but thanks to this thread saw the backlash it decided against it.

Before you ask the source, I have seen the internal staff memo on this like I had right from the beginning - so for the source all I can say is BOYA.

This is the last post from me as some of the disgusting comments and sarcasm doesn't make it a welcome place to be. Had lots more info I could share which would've benefited a lot of people on here but the smug attitude of some makes it pointless. Not putting up with rubbish from some narrow minded people on here.
Thanks OP for the heads up. I appreciate it! I booked a fully refundable JASA Syd-Bne-Tsv for June 2014 just in case....

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

747800s memo is correct from what the call centre operator just told me, but there will be no fee for phone assistance on the quoted fare classes at classic award level. Source, from the bronze 'priority' line!
And something about cc fees.

Also before someone starts sending me PMs about providing internal information, this was just from the call centre. Otherwise I know nothing of any changes and no emails have been sent.

excellent... well I did predict no fee for assistance :)

hopefully also the fee will now be waived for award bookings which cannot be completed on line for our tickets ex Thailand.

and credit card fees in line with actual costs! thumbs up to qantas!

On the previous occasions both Red Roo and Alan Joyce specifically denied it, which everyone seems to have dismissed out of hand...

One can't say anything
The other wouldn't know what is happening

I cant see how a process that makes JASAs more expensive AND more difficult to book are in the interests of QF pax, and thus QF.

If that turns out to be the case, very, very disappointed in QF.

Once again THANK YOU for posting

Ignore the usual suspects who jump up and down probably because they are bored and have nothing better to do! They are the usual ones who want an argument and are never wrong anyways, so I mainly ignore them

Well I'm glad to see that finally we get some rumours which turn out to be accurate! Thanks 747800intercon for sharing the details, looks like you got the jump on this one!

I agree with simongr that this comes down to ethics.

I was watching the AusBT tweets on the QF briefing, which then came under embargo, somebody asked if AusBT's editor would be making any JASA bookings before midnight (obviously fishing for a clue as to the nature of the briefing), he replied

I can't - even if I wanted to, it wouldn't be ethical for me to act on information obtained under embargo

So there is your answer I think, media would not act on this, just like it would be 'insider trading' to be told in advance about Company X buying Company Y and then going out to buy or sell shares based on that knowledge.

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Hey All,

I just tried to book a JASA from BNE to PER and Qantas wanted $227.64 + 36,000 points!!!

A couple of months back I swear it was for $30~ + 36,000 points for the same JASA (same flight number too)...

what's going on?!

re: [Confirmed] QF removing [cheap] ASAs [from web booking engine Jun 26-was]10April

Any changes making ASAs less accessible is just dumb.

It would never have been $30, your memory is inaccurate.
