Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

I always have 3 or 4 bottles in the house and got extra when this happened. We always use it when travelling and have been using it at home.

Used panic buying mince last night for tacos and today it was left over panic buy mince taco pies. Sent a couple to mum in law as well.

and I've ordered a pie maker so will need to start checking out recipes for them

Thanks for asking @I love to travel. I went to Woolies on saturday and IGA but no toilet paper, flour or pasta. But I did get lots of fresh fruit and veggies.
Sunday morning I went first thing to IGA and managed to get a 4 pack. So am happy for now.
Spoke to a friend today and he said he went to Coles and got a 12 pack in the middle of the day yesterday. Coles is a few suburbs away but I will try them later in the week because I now have some for the week.

I just sneaked out quickly to woollies to get a replacement coffee frother so I can make cappuccinos at home again (My black replacement KMart Anko one packed it in yet again - great little units but very shoddily built & unreliable).

OMG never seen so much TP in one place at one time and zero people buying. All the shelves full, stacked on the floor the length of the aisle 1/2 blocking it. Stacks of tissues and Kitchen towels.

Didn't go down the soap aisle so no idea about supplies of hand soap etc.

Wasn't in there long but a very quick squiz of a few aisles everything seemed to be in plentiful supply except no pasta. The pasta shelves are stuffed full of Kitchen towel packets.

I saw people walking out with TP at Brickworks Woolies which was deserted. But none on the shelves. Maybe they'd gone into Big W. Not much cleaning stock. No flour. Plenty of fresh fruit and meat.

Just in Coles in Burnside and whole centre very quiet. No toilet paper and in fact the whole TP aisle had Easter eggs on it. No Vita Wheats :( but got 90% of what I wanted.

Oh my gosh my dream Woolies!

They've put their new extensions on hold now.

Not too bad on my Coles shop in Lonnie today.A fair bit of TP and even 5 varieties of spaghetti.Must have been expecting a run on tissues as 2 aisles of them.
Did get a few looks as I was wearing a mask but nobody else was.
The shop is to last me the next 2 weeks.I have though ordered fruit, veggies, meat and salmon from the Harvest Market online to be delivered Saturday.

Dan Murphy’s policy will cause angst at the checkout. I purchased a bottle of gin (750 ml); 4 pack tonic; 4 white wine, two sparkling and a six pack of TED. At the checkout I was refused the 6 pack!

I could have bought significantly more alcohol as per below. But not included the beer.

An Adelaide man has reportedly hoarded more than 5400 toilet rolls after panic buying left supermarket shelves stripped.
An anonymous grocer told 9 News Adelaide they had been approached by the man, who has allegedly been contacting independent stores about his stash after being banned from online selling.

but do they have toilet paper too - starting to get very low
They seem to first thing in the morning. I saw plenty being bought yesterday but gone when I actually went in at 10 ish. It’s very quiet and has wide aisles.

Looks like Toilet Paper Wars may be almost over, or at least near me.

At my local Woolies at 10am this morning not only was the aisle overflowing onto the floor as the shelves with toilet paper, as well as paper towels, there was not one other person in the aisle buying it when I was. Plus even a choice of brands!

The rest of the supermarket was quiet but with people in most aisles. So the toilet paper aisle was the least busy are in the whole supermarket! I did note though that most trollies did not have toilet paper in them which was quite the opposite of most of my other recent shops.
