Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

This is Woolworths criteria for their select shopping:
a government-issued concession card.

So does this mean that self funded retired people who don't receive commonwealth support are excluded? I know one lady who is 95 and doesn't qualify for this. She may have some assets but she can't eat and clean with them.
Maybe they accept the State Senior Citizens card that qualifies for free transport etc.

Todays Coles delivery and not supplied:

No Betadine gargle
No Coke Classic (WTF!)
No soap bars
No serviettes
No Veggie oil
No paper towels
No tampons
No 2min noodles
No disinfectant wipes
No toilet paper
No Shower Power soap scum cleaner

It means you show a seniors card. You just need to be older and in the vulnerable group.

To each his own taste, I am an Apple fan, not perfect but….

So what did they deliver? An empty box?

@Denali, I think the answer to your question elsewhere which I can’t lay my hands on at the moment about your aged MIL I think it was, is that you or someone goes into the shop with her and says, ‘I’m not shopping for myself just with my aged person’. It will become obvious that help is required.

Fortunately some flour, chorizos and cheese as I made pizza on the weekend and now hubby wants to try to make his own as well, once he realized how simple it was IF the dough is made for you. Hes used my Kitchenaid more this year than I have.

I also told him we can buy ready made dough in a packet so will see how he goes with making his own first

I foresee nursing homes are going to have peak granny pickup once word gets out - so many oldies not visited for most of the year and now its lets to go Coles, Nanna.

Woolworths has just announced that store hours will be changed to 8am-8pm (many stores normally open from 7am until between 10pm and midnight depending on location and store size) from tomorrow. Will decide on Friday if it will be extended.
7am-8am will be an hour reserved for elderly and disabled customers.
Between 7 and 8am, customers will need to show a seniors or disability card to enter the store.

I hope stores have security because Its going to get ugly in places, which is nuts.

I wonder how long before some bright spark rents out granny to do your shopping - it will happen because its in our nature to find work arounds.

Just did a shop after a few days break. It’s interesting the sold out items. All the usuals. Plus all the frozen veggies except for one brand called “when in Rome”. MrP will be pleased with no veggies. Fresh available.
Then unpacked and got home and realized I’d bought cans of cat food and not our dinner. Went back to the shop 30 minutes later and couldn’t believe how much had gone in that time.

Here in Perth the local Woolies got hammered after lunchtime and there were elderly people just walking around with empty trolleys looking worried.

I think WOW said they were stopping home deliveries? There are some people for whom they are essential I suppose.

I don’t think nursing homes, but it least some of them at least, are allowed visitors.

Yes.

Deliveries stopped in VIC, except from 1 store which is only getting approved orders from people deemed "in need".
Pick up stopped nationally at least until Wednesday.

I usually have a stash of chocolate in the office. The CFO told me about a 6mths ago no more company chocs but I always sneak a multi pack or two in our office orders.

On the weekend I bought some bulk boxes of cadbury & mars chocs. Told my boss we've all got different levels of stress over this and we need chocolate because some people arent even leaving the office anymore so you go out there and tell them no more chocolate. Helps that I got the GMs favourite kind as well :)

I nipped into the local IGA just to pick up milk butter & cheese, this at 9.30. All the usual suspects cleaned out, but as I was walking past the frozen veggies section 2 women were madly filling their trolleys. Another woman, seeing them, started doing the same, then I heard her saying well I might as well get what I can just in case.....you dill, walk to the next aisle and buy fresh food
