Covid-19 - status pause

Status

I guess it depends on how long this thing lasts and what‘s easy to implement.

An extension for everyone of say 12 months to achieve or retain status would probably be easiest to implement and if travel is disrupted for several months would probably be the way to go.

Or perhaps reducing the number of SC needed to retain/attain status or even opening up DSC for all new bookings not just limited to a short booking window.

Frequent Flyers on QF are allowed a status hold during pregnancy and as members are unable to fly. I think that this should be available to all QFF members during the Corona Virus Pandemic

Maybe someone should have a quiet word in the ear of AJ.

Consistency with Emirates' reduced tier requirement?

Sure is but we have so many similar Covid19 threads now prob doesnt matter. Btw, Covid19 is certainly leveling the playing field between self funded and corporate QFF members...which as a self funder dont think is a bad thing

I agree both VA and QF should do it.

The bloody hard question for both is HOW.... I know they can’t collude but they kinda need to on this one!!

I asked them and computer said “we’ll get back to you on that.” :(

Well I got an email from Marriott today saying they will extend my status by a year.

Why? Plenty of sectors still going ... pull your wallet out ;)

Coronavirus will enormously thin out the ranks of elite flyers in QFF (and CX for that matter).

Many corporate travel bans on China (Australia's largest trading partner by an order of magnitude) with the possibility of extending it to HKG and SIN.

It's going to be terrible for Qantas, so expect some creative offerings from Qantas to drum up business. But a status pause won't be one of them because it doesn't generate any extra revenue for them.

Status does generate loyalty. I‘m in a vulnerable group so am certain to need to change my dates on a current UK booking, which will push my return beyond status year date and drop me from gold for 2021. If that happens the motivation to stick with QF for my 2021 travel is diminished. Other horizons!

And there's always a chance the virus could mutate into a worse (or better) strain out there in the wild.... \
Saw an Epidemiologist explaining why it is more likely to become less severe. A virus survives by spreading, so if it kills its host then that is the end of that version of the virus. So the best virus is one that can spread without killing the host and hopefully keeping the host well enough so they can go about their day cough and spluttering.

Potentially needing 28 extra days for any international trip to self isolate on arrival to the travel destination and when coming back home is going to make international travel impossible for most until restrictions are lifted.

And support the domestic airlines...
Exactly. Some of these airfares are too good to pass up
Mrs Jase has commented that VA are running the A330 3x daily between MEL-PER and SYD-PER and that Freedom fares are only $616 and plenty of award availability so perhaps we should use up some Platinum upgrades. Might plan a couple of ADL-MEL/SYD- PER trips now that it looks like the AFL won’t be playing
