Cricket World Cup 2015

Most of the matches are boring. There are scores of pre final matches and then when you finally get to the good teams playing against each other it's sudden death.

Tongue in cheek aimed at the ICC for culling the world cup to 10 teams for 2019 and 2023. So far it's really only been the full members that have been uncompetitive. Even Scotland fought back and bowled well against NZ after they got rolled cheaply.

One could well argue that England has never been competitive in the one day game. NZ, Aus and India and Sth Africa are the main players.

Yet England dismantled India just recently in the Tri-Series.

I just think that the ICC are being short sighted and the game will not grow if they continue with their exclusion policies.

But maybe the World Cup isn't the right forum for that?

But it's about the World Cup. Which should be about the entire world getting the opportunity to qualify and compete.

Except in say the Soccer World Cup there are several rounds countries have to go through before they qualify to enter.

Which also happens in Cricket. It's just that the 10 Full Members get automatic entry. But Scotland, Ireland, UAE and Afghanistan had to work their way through qualifying tournaments.

Good lord. Who did they play and BEAT

Oh wait. There's an app!

Netherlands and the like. Interesting.

Gabba match rained out. Weird programme where NZ had already played three times by yesterday and Aus was only on their second game today. And no play either. Bangers will be happy with the point.

Windies munted Pakistan by 150 runs. Net run rate could be important for some teams.

As for the schedule I think it's great the minnows get a go but perhaps we need more groups so only three games in each and then the top 8 go to a round robin stage. That way we see all the top teams play each other at least once. They've had this in the past with the "Super 6" and "Super 8". Better than just not allowing anyone outside the top 10 in the tournament.

Just in "public transport chaos Melbourne" Sunday....soccer, nrl, eagles and cricket...... Capital of Morons!!!!!(sports admin)

Our son was born in Sri Lanka. When he was maybe 10 we woke him up in the middle of the night as we were pretty sure SL was about to win the WC - a big deal back in those days - as we thought they'd most likely not do it again for a long time. 1996 it was.

Would not have picked India flogging RSA at the MCG. Must have been a spectacle with nigh on 86 000 fans of which 90% seemed to be supporting India! Well done to them. Perhaps they are coming good at the right time.

Pity Afghanistan couldn't hold on to beat Sri Lanka. If ever there was a favourite underdog team it's Afghanistan. Amazing for such a wrecked country. Apparently the Afghans got into cricket when stuck in refugee camps in Pakistan in the 80s and the rest is history. I can't see Kabul or Kandahar hosting a Test any time soon though. Or anywhere in Pakistan for that matter.

When Chris Gayle fires he really fires-215 V Zimbabwe.Second wicket partnership of 372.

I can't wait to see the shorts of his innings on FoxSports later tonight - sixteen 6's. Wow ... What an amazing player

All eyes on the vital UAE vs Ireland fixture at the Gabba today...

Warks that was a fun game.
Remember that NZ has a good chance to knock over Australia in NZ by using a pitch that suits them. Australia is not technically on top as one game that they thought they could win was cancelled due to weather.

And the Scotland vs Afghanistan game was even better. Been listening all day on Grandstand Digital. Afghanistan just won the game by one wicket! They were only chasing 211 to win but were 7-97 at one stage and out of it but some late partnerships saved the day - Shenwari scored 96 but got out with about 20 to get. Amazing win. Poor old Scotland - haven't won a WC game yet in three tries.

Why it's not on TV... damn you Channel 9 and Foxtel.

Best game so far ,able to watch on Foxtel and not have to listen to Ch 9 commentary .

Well I needed the defibrillator on standby yesterday after that game! Aus batted like idiots and were lucky to get 151. Kiwis had it in the bag until Starc tore into them leaving them 9 down with 6 to get. Pity Starc didn't bowl his last ball at Boult straighter. Williamson hit a six to win it for the Kiwis. As everyone is saying Aus looked pretty bad but the Kiwis can't take much more than the points from this game. Who needs 600 runs in a day? Batting isn't everything.
