Good stuff! Nice to see the winter shots.

I spent a month or so driving around Scandinavia in June some years back. Made it a mission to be at Nordkapp on 21 June for the solstice. Even then had an unseasonal snowstorm to drive through up inside the arctic circle.

I stayed in Flam a couple of nights or so; woke one morning to see the QE2 towering over the wharf. Drove through the Laerdal tunnel nearby; at 24.5 km, the world's longest.

Eventually, the last fellow got back on board and we were off.

This section was pretty spectacular as the line was basically cut into the side of mountain... The timber slats you can see in the photos are the only thing between the train and an almighty drop.

Next stop - Vatnahalaen http://vatnahalsen.no/en/

A couple left the train here to stay at the hotel... you can see the guy on the ski-doo collecting their luggage

Right on time we pulled up at Myrdal walked across the platform, jumped on board the waiting train... which departed 8mins later.

Flam Line was sensational!

2h 25m later we arrived in Bergen.

These Norwegians are pretty fancy... 10 NOK ($1.60) per use by credit card only. Must say, it was the cleanest railway toilet I've ever seen.

What a beauty of a day! Well organised, stunning and a thrill for the whole 9+ hours.

Norway in a Nutshell is a must IMO.

Great photos, I think my summer trip may be a bit different. I am going one way OSL - Bergen and get on the Hurtigruten. Your map said you were doing a return? Will I miss out on much?

Do you really pay NOK10 to use the loo?!

We did the Bergen round trip i.e. start - Bergen ... end - Bergen. Your trip will cover the same however, will be longer since you're coming from Oslo. The seat tips I gave will be the opposite - since you're coming from the other direction.

This was at Bergen station ... I suppose it's free on board.

When you gotta go - you gotta go!

After three attempts to order a bottle of white from the menu (no stock for 3/3) I gave up and drank this.

The service wasn't the best however, the food was delicious.

BGO-TOS

We flew Wideroe - thanks to TK *G status match, we got priority check-in and additional baggage allowance... saving >€100

Strangely, no lounge at BGO for dom services.
