Re: American Express Velocity Platinum Card - 110k for you & 20K for me

I applied like 4 weeks ago when the 80k promotion was still on. I wonder if I can somehow get the 110000pt promotion considering I just got approved. Wonder if I can pretend to be one of the people who had points posted incorrectly and supply a new referral link for 110,000 :D
The guy I spoke to mentioned a date on the system, so you may be out of luck

Re: American Express Velocity Platinum Card - 110k for you & 20K for me

Hi Heg, yes points posted 2 July. Very quick.
Thanks Again
Just out of interest- is there any reference as to who the points have come from on your statements? I noticed a lot of folks on here are saying they are using links, but not saying whose links they have used. Seems there is no way of keeping track of Amex to check if correct bonus points have been posted

I don't think there is anyway to track which person click your link at all. I could not see it. I would say that given it is referral, it is supposed to be your friends who apply to them ..... so your "friend" should let you know whether they have applied.

Re: American Express Velocity Platinum Card - 110k for you & 20K for me

Yes, another one of these referral links. But, if anyone is yet to apply for the card, it would be greatly appreciated if you used my link. Each referral is a one-way ticket from CNS/TSV-PER to visit family back home. Yes, I'm a student. :(

A student? I never used to earn $65k per annum when I was a student. How times have changed...

Don't worry, times haven't changed that much. It's a family member's card!

Re: Velocity Amex – 80,000 points, return free flight, lounge passes, travel insurance

Now that 30 Sep has passed, the referral offer for this card is back down from 110,000 points (see other thread) to 80,000 points until 2 February 2016.
Rather than just posting a link I've taken some time to actually explain some of the features of this brilliant card. Please support a long-time very active member of this forum rather than someone who signs up just to post a referral link!

Here is my referral link for the Velocity Amex – https://www316.americanexpress.com/...A0D44E52D&mgmerSource&MGMURN=AAAABgQTFxETAQ==

With this card you will receive:

1. 80,000 Velocity points after spending just $500 (must use referral link otherwise you only receive 50,000 points). I receive 20,000 points for referring you. During Velocity’s regular 15% off award seats discount promotion, these 80,000 points are enough for a one-way Business Class ticket from Sydney or Brisbane to Los Angeles plus a small fees and taxes payment of about $100. That’s about $3,000 of value right there. Even redeeming for domestic economy flights you should be able to get close to $1,000 value depending on how you use them.

2. A free domestic return flight with Virgin Australia to selected cities, now and every year after your first Card spend – the list of available routes for using the free flight is here - AMXACQ1994_FlightMap_v4 Again, several hundred dollars value. The flights can be booked easily through Amex travel and availability is good.

3. Two free Single Entry passes to the Virgin Australia lounge each year. May not be useful for SG and WP members, but $130 value to others.

4. Domestic and International Travel Insurance when you pay for eligible travel on your Card.

5. Travel Inconvenience Insurance will cover you for flight delays, missed connections or delayed luggage.

6. 3 points per dollar spent with Virgin Australia and tens of thousands of restaurants in Australia (most restaurants pay 3 pp$), with 2 points per dollar spent with other airlines, accommodation, major cruise and tour operators paid directly or through travel agencies as well as spend in foreign currency when overseas and online.

7. Discounted business class travel when you fly with a friend to selected Virgin Australia international long haul destinations, including flights to Europe and the US that codeshare with Etihad or Delta.

This is currently the highest sign on bonus for any Velocity card and still a terrific offer, especially as you only need to spend $500 to get those bonus points (versus much higher minimum spend requirements for less points with other cards) plus a lot of other features. With all the benefits you should easily be able to obtain over $1,000 of value from this card in the first year alone. There is a $349 annual fee which I think is very fair given the benefits of the card.

Offer ends 9 Feb 2016.

I love this card and hope you will too – I appreciate your support!

Re: Velocity Amex – 80,000 points, return free flight, lounge passes, travel insurance

Virgin Velocity Platinum American Express

This card is still the best offer for Velocity points bonus out there. To sum it up:

80000 bonus Velocity points + Free Virgin Australia domestic flight + 2 Virgin Australia Lounge Passes + Travel Insurance for only $349 annual fee.

The free domestic flight covers most of the annual fee already.

Most important of all, 80000 bonus Velocity points can be converted to 59259 Singapore Krisflyer miles. It can get you award ticket on Singapore Airlines (as an example):

- Sydney - Singapore - Hong Kong on Business One-Way (46750 KF miles)
- Sydney - Singapore - Rest of South East Asia Business One-Way (46750 KF miles)

If you spend a little on your card to accumulate more miles, you can go the following:
- Sydney - Singapore - Hong Kong on A380 Suites/First One-Way (63750 KF miles)
- Sydney - Singapore - Tokyo on Business One-Way (65875 KF miles)
- Sydney - Singapore - Tokyo on A380 Suites/First One-Way (80750 KF miles)
- Sydney - Singapore - European Cities on Business One-Way (80750 KF miles)

It is a fantastic deal. If you want all these benefits, you should apply on the following link:

if this is a 'new' offer, does the 20 referrals limit start again? or is it ,limited to the card?

From what I read, people were going over the 20 referrals anyhow.
I would be curious to know the answer though, although I'm a LONG way away from that many referrals. I got a few in the last promo.

It's still fantastic but I think your signature is now perhaps a bit misleading in describing it as the best ever offer!

I would define the offers as changed rather than new and while the card offer has changed I don't think the referral offer has really (at least not for the referrer" which this term relates to.

Re: Velocity Amex – 80,000 points, return free flight, lounge passes, travel insurance

I have many less that the 20 max, but have a mate who wants one now. Would my original referral address work - anyone tried it?

Re: Velocity Amex – 80,000 points, return free flight, lounge passes, travel insurance

I always thought there was a 200k points earned limit per year on referrals, so in some cases it worked out to 20 whereas others its 10.

Re: Velocity Amex – 80,000 points, return free flight, lounge passes, travel insurance

Hmm, I think an email to AMEX may be needed to see what my particular position if. There maybe some referrals posted from people who have definitely reached their limit whether it be 10/20 somethings.

Re: Velocity Amex – 80,000 points, return free flight, lounge passes, travel insurance

I emailed AMEX re the upper level of points a person can get on referrals, and go an almost instantaneous response:

The maximum number of referrals allowed per Card member are 10 referrals. Once you reach the limit, you will no longer be able to refer any more Card members.

here is my referral link for the 80000 point offer . thanks all
