Current offer 80000 velocity points for velocity platinum amex

Platinum Velocity is a great card. I'm very pleased I got mine.
For a Perth person it comes with the added bonus of a PER-SYD flight which easily covers the annual fee. I have just recently booked my PER to SYD flight without issue despite Sydney not being one of the official destinations. Others have had the same experience.

I will also be registering my cards (yes I have supplementary cards) for the upcoming shop small on May 14/15. I plan on maxing out the 3 uses on each card. This should save me around $150 across all my cards. Additional to shop small there's usually a good range of statement credits which can easily help in offsetting the initial cost of the card.

Not to mention 3 points per $ for restaurants.
Between this and the platinum edge 3 points per dollar can be had on a lot of things.

The below resource (PDF) is great for award redemptions on Singapore Airlines.
It basically summarises the points needed for differing classes of travel to/from Singapore. The 'points required' look like the include the online booking discount.
Remember, 80,000 velocity points equates to 59,259 kris flyer points.
With a some additional spend, I'm planning to use the points from my plat velocity for a suites ride from HKG-SIN-SYD which is the same number of points as a SYD-SIN flight, but of course you get another 4 hours of luxury (about 12 all up) as well as the first class lounge experience in Singapore.

Of course I would be extremely grateful if anyone was to use my referral link should you decide to sign up to this card. :)

Has anyone been successful with the bonus points while holding the recent QFF Premium AMEX card?

(sorry to hijack thread)

Hi Yld20.
If you're trying to figure out if you'll receive the 80,000 points while holding a qantas amex, then the answer is yes you should be fine. The terms and conditions state that you won't be eligible, but in practice I've only heard of one case where bonus points haven't been awarded (dig deep into the velocity 110k referral thread). Many of us here held a platinum edge prior to applying for a velocity amex. I and most others received their 110,000 points. ;-)

Cheers. ;)

Thanks Winston,

Been looking for the next card to churn through after my QF AMEX. You'll definately get the nod if I decide to bite the bullet.

Very kind of you. :)
Dont forget to hit Amex up for some points to keep you as a customer come renewal time. They will usually cough up points to keep you in lieu of reducing the annual fee.

Just wanted to share my referral link again. Much the same as the others with 80,000 bonus points for you ;)
Haven't gotten any referral points yet so I am hoping for some luck to reach my goal. Thanks for looking :D

This card is still the best offer for Velocity points bonus out there. To sum it up:

I have previously applied the AMEX Velocity platinum from one of the referrals link on AFF and I must say this card is of great value.

You'll get the bonus 80K Velocity points, free Virgin Australia Flight, 2 Amex Lounge pass in Sydney and 2X lounge pass to Virgin Australia.

If anyone is interested in applying, please click Here.

I used one of the referral links here so I might as well share mine too!

AMEX is great at turning over points quickly and has pretty loose controls over people with other AMEX products. So if you're looking to apply please feel free to use my referral link below which will help me and Mrs Y fly in the pointy end of the plane for the first time

I can confirm that Yld200 used my referral link (many many thanks).
I would encourage others to use his link seeing he generously shared the love here when applying. Hopefully others applying now will have the fortune of receiving a referral bonus down the track.
Great thanks again to yld200. I really appreciate it. :)

American Express has extended the offer again. This time without any expiry date.

Smart move I say, Amex realised that this is the best way to get and keep new customers.

Just a reminder for anyone who's thinking about getting this card.

If anyone wants a referral;

http://amex.com.au/refer/wesleeoGCO

· Complimentary domestic return flight (within selected cities) on Virgin Australia
· Two single entry passes to the Virgin Australia Lounge
· Two entries to the American Express Lounge at Sydney International
· Complimentary domestic and international travel insurance
· Earn 3 points per dollar at restaurants and Virgin Australia, 2 points on airlines, accommodation and spend if foreign currency, and 1 point elsewhere (excluding utilities, telecommunications companies and government bodies)

How militant are AMEX on the 12 month cooling off period? I had a Platinum Edge card I cancelled last September.

As a current plat charge holder what are the chances of the bonus? I read in another thread that referred signups still received signup bonuses (even if already holding an amex issues amex)... but that was for the 120k plat charge itself. Any reports here?

Anyone applied for this shortly after having cancelled the same card? I know one should wait a decent period (12 months), but I am impatient for more points to get back to JFK.
