Out of the 4 Champagnes... Can anyone advise what is a) the best, b) the sweetest?

The answer to (a) is purely subjective. Do you drink much wine? Just like people's wine preference, Champagnes all have different (slight to not so slight) characteristics. Just ask your waiter that you want to test each one. I'm sure as long as the place isn't too busy, they will be happy to oblige.

My personal preference of the four is Taittinger.

I haven't had enough Delamotte before to make a good judgement, but as for the sweetest wine, I'm going to put my stake on the Veuve Cliquot Ponsardin.

I generally do not taste the Delamotte, but of the other three I would progress, in order (and quite often do): Veuve, Bollinger, Taittinger.
My order would be Taittinger, Delamotte, Veuve and Bollinger.

As previously mentioned though, try 'em all and see which you prefer. It's a tough life ;)

I tend to prefer the Taittinger, although in a drunken haze I may have purchased a magnum of Veuve Clicquot last night.

Tried the Menu today. It has some interesting dishes! Rillettes was something I've never tried - it was like pâté. And the summer berry trifle was excellent.

Just like a pilot in flight, a haze may result in a reduction in visibility which may lead to unintended consequences. :p

Usually you would eat rillettes with some sort of bread or crackers. I suppose it's good enough on its own with the pickle.

Wish you had a picture of the trifle. Haven't seen a good trifle in a restaurant in ages...

Caramelised onions work well with rabbit rillettes and so I'm interested to see how the pork matches the pickle. And yes, generally one would have said course with bread or crackers.

I love trifle too and Mrs 340 likes it even more. Maybe trifle is seen as a little old-fashioned to have on a restaurant menu? Not sure why as it's a good dessert. Perhaps with the retro wave in restaurants where modern takes on such delights as prawn coughtail have made it on to the menu then 2014 could be the Year of the Trifle? You saw it here first, or maybe second after Neil's menu.

It was pork rillettes served with thin toasted baguette slices, pickled cucumber and fruit. Interesting but I don't think I'll have it again. :)

It was a wine auction, so not too bad.

At least I didn't accidentally buy a house :p

Currently waiting for qf9 and have finished the trifle - nice enough but bring back the pav!

Strangely enough, I see a very large billboard out my office window declaring
"SUN, FUN AND PAVLOVA - The Perfect AUSSIE CHRISTMAS - ALDI"

Perhaps Neil Perry sold the F Lounge Summer Pav rights ;)

I was in the SYD F Lounge on 14DEC and there was this little baby on the MARKET INSPIRATIONS menu:

Deconstructed Summer Pavlova with Blueberries, Passionfruit, Vanilla Gelato and Vanilla Persian Fairy Floss. It was delicious!

Ahh not in a wine glass anymore!

FWIW, I actually hate pavlova (I detest meringue of any sort except Macarons ;)) but it's always pretty as a picture.

Waiting for QF1, we have tried the pav, the trifle and the granita.. Life is good

Jkyn is also on your flight and in the lounge... unless you are travelling with her?

PS - How was the "Summer Pav".

I want to try it now - unfortunately my next flight is in SQ suites, so no QF F lounge for me :( booo
